Post your covers! (2023)

Hey guys

Sorry for the long absence - work’s been piling up, I’ve had a couple of short hospital stays and bought a new flat, but this has taught me there’s always time for rock and roll! I saw all the great work going on in the Covers thread and had to get back in.

Ok, yes, it’s Motorhead again but the Rick was made for it. The original is the final track on the stunning Overkill album. I separated it with Moises and recorded the bass track with Reaper. I then recorded a second version while doing the video and kind of merged the two versions here and there when I fluffed something. I know it’s sort of cheating but someone told me the first rule of cover thread is there are no rules. I think.

Anyway, I present Limb from Limb by Motörhead!

Thanks! It needs a lot of energy :slightly_smiling_face:. Probably helps if like Lemmy you’re on ‘supplements’…

Well done @Ed !
What are the specs on your Rick? I’m sorta kinda in the market for one. I really don’t need another bass I keep telling myself.

Thanks @JerryP !

It’s a 2020 4003 Satin edition (mapleglo as you can see. ). I had a new pickguard and truss rod cover from Alperius pickguards fitted, and upgraded the bass pickup to a Seymour Duncan humbucker for more oomph. Otherwise the special ingredient is love

It’s definitely got its quirks - the pots give you nothing for 90% and then everything comes at once, and the bridge mute is a law unto itself - but it’s so cool to play and the sound is totally classic.

I’d totally recommend some motorhead basslines if you’re ever want to let off some steam - they’re not that tough but great fun

Oh man! @Ed what a come back man. When it kick to the second gear I was floored. My head is still hurting from bobbing along the music. Awesome playing man. Very inspiring to get the picking technique together.

Hah thanks @Al1885 ! It’s a good solid blues formula and that is never bad :slightly_smiling_face:. I’ve got to start doing some more complex pieces though…
