That bit at 2:36 was really good - where the rest of the band lays out and the bass enters? I have a nightmare time when that happens - I’m like a fish out of water when there isn’t a drum beat to keep to. Did you use a click track?

It’s so cool you noticed that. So, when I was figuring out the song, I heard Sting do this neat upbeat thing right at the end, but the dang engineer fades it. You can even hear Stewart kick in like they were going to take the song in whole different direction. Oh well, that’s how they did it in the 80’s.

I have always hated fade-out endings, even when they were the main fad. Total songwriting cop-out, IMO. Songs should have a nicely defined outro just like they do an intro.

Stewart Copeland is definitely one of the best in the business unfortunately Sting became the frontman of the band stewart founded and Sting prefers no distractions to his compositions so it’s a struggle.
They have got to be one of the top 5 trios ever.
