Post your covers! (2023)

Thanks Barney!

Thankyou! @dlamson13

You know, I wouldn’t be surprised. Everything feels very well orchestrated - now I think about it there’s no way this could have come from a jam session. I reckon he started with the chorus and the verse sections and then tried to figure out how to connect them together. Must have taken a while !

Thanks @JerryP ! My knowledge of Bostonology is limited more or less to the first album but I love this one and Smoking

Thank you muchly @John_E !!

Oh not this time  although, actually, now you mention it, the section after the interlude does have a bar where you have to play the root and the fifth really quickly which came out like a power chord. Oh I love power chords :grinning:

Thanks @g13dip

Give it a go man. You’ll nail the verse and chorus sections really quickly. The other 20% takes a little bit of memorisation but you can stick to the root notes for a lot of it. Drums are way more difficult than bass anyway. I tried playing on my brother’s kit ages ago but just couldn’t get the coordination…

Cheers @Barney !

Yeah I’d always nodded along with the song when it was on the radio but it’s only when I started trying to learn it I realised how good it was. Some great little melodic moments in there (and the original is better than my version for sure!)

Heh let me check…

(checks Wikipedia)

Well the bassist was Fran Sheehan… maybe so  :four_leaf_clover: . If so he would be the second Irish bass player I know after Phil Lynott (and maybe the guy from U2?)

Thank you very much good sir :.)
And yes! It is indeed intended. I used the Sondery Metal Distortion Pedal to give my 5 string a really chuggy heavy tone to replicate the thick guitar in the song. The bass has a touch of distortion in it as well if you listen really closely so I figured it would be extremely perfect to merge both parts on a distorted bass.

Thank you very much for your words and insight as always.
It definitely wasn’t a perfect playthrough but was still pleased with how it came to but yeah I definitely am gonna keep cracking at it regardless just cause of the neck traveling. There were definitely a few parts that through my mind a bit and I spent so much time focusing on the part right before the 1_/12 slides I didn’t bash my head as heavily against most of the more melodic parts. But tis very true and as always there is more work to be done to improve and that I shall do :.)
And thank you lol I just figured I’d do something goofy for this piece since it was much much larger and more grand than any other song I’ve done.

Hey that’s not bad at all - reminds me of the old Boss Heavy Metal I had back in the day

That was solid! Maybe a little seizure inducing, but very cool nonetheless.

This one was fun to learn and it’s fun to play. I always enjoy a good Mark Hoppus bass line. This is the first song off their album California. A lot of Blink fans don’t like that album, but I love it.

Using my Squier 40th Gold Edition jazz. And my new M-audio air interface.
Original bass removed with Moises.

One day it’s a pick, the next it’s food threads, guitars, and then… I don’t even want to think about it.

Great job as usual, @Paul_9207

Hi, everyone!

Here’s my latest cover:

The Beatles - Come Together

Paul originally used his Rickenbacker 4001S for this recording.

Listening to the original recording, Paul seems to alternate between staccato and legato when playing the variations of the riff (D) of the first and subsequent verses.

He also doesn’t do a slide when playing the second riff (A) although I could fit a slide in there because it’s just the first riff repeated again but in A.

Overall, this is a simple, hypnotizing bass line that is surprisingly hard to get it 100% correct (myself included). I think this bassline just shows again how good of a bassist Paul McCartney is.

I hope you enjoy! Thank you for watching!
