Post your covers! (2023)

Nice job robbp! Did you leave the vocals out because of copyright issues on You Tube?

I really liked this @Ek_Bass
Well done, tone is insane, maybe a bit too aggressive for Bon Jovi, but a great ‘upgrade’, lol.
Excellent work!

You get the ‘Best Tone From Squiers Prize’, right next to @JerryP and his ‘Best Tones From Ibanez Prize’.

This was fantastic @Paul_9207
Not much else to say here.

Never heard this one before, nor do I have a clue what they are talking about, but good nontheless.
Well done!

Watch out for those dudes behind you - you might want to lock your doors and windows.

Great job @robbp
Paul is sneaky later in the Beatles.
He mixes riffs up a lot to give them character.
Pretty much every single tab i have ever seen (including their ‘offical’ book).
I spend hours going note by note ‘fixing’ them for myself, haven’t gotten to this one yet.

The neat thing about Paul is studying his phrasing and timing, he is a madman at syncopation and varying what you think you here just slightly, giving it an amazing groove, but as you say, making it harder to master.

He is no simple bass guy.

I did great on this one.
Nice tone.

As far as him playing the Rick originally, probably maybe.
The Abbey Road sessions had no video and very very few photos of them while playing (around 12 I think). Andy Babiuk, the guy who literally wrote the book on Beatles and Rolling Stones gear always says - no one knows who played what on Abbey Road - period.
The P sounded really really good though, would have liked to hear your version in the orignal song mix, I bet it is fabulous!

well i signed up for bass buzz around this time last year, and have continued on playing the bass after the course. i have come a long way not knowing how to hold or tune a bass about a year ago lol. kinda just said I want to learn something, and on a random day i picked up a subray 4 and a rumble 40. its super gratifying when you learn a new song, or something new on the bass - currently learning the circle of 5ths from another course. i practice when i can - which is kinda of hard these days as my wife gave birth to our daughter so that takes up alot of time LOL.
anyhow i was listening to spotify the other day, and santeria came on, and I was like - i want to learn that song!! here is a recording of my second try with mistakes - and its not a note for note but thats OK with me. i am happy enough that I can keep up –

artist: sublime
song: santeria

downloaded a bass backing copy off youtube witha converter, and dropped it into fl studio and used my Behringer sound card to record.

take a listen if you want : santeria 2nd try.mp3 - Google Drive

(878) When I’m Gone cover Minutes to Midnight - YouTube

What’s the name of the artist and song please ? Minutes to Midnight - When I’m Gone ? can’t find the original anywhere

It’s a pain in the a** when I have to research this, and Shazam doesn’t find the song. And this happens all the time. I’m just asking to write clearly in the post the Artist/band name - Song title, it takes 5 seconds to you and much more to me, especially considering that I have to do that several times each week.

I’m a bit tired of asking the same thing again and again, and I’m seriously thinking of stopping doing the annual list and counts.

I believe that song was originally by 3 Doors Down.

I think it’s totally reasonable for you to simply skip any song without them for the annual list, or just list them as “unknown”. You are already doing more than enough work there

I would just go on strike @terb !! First 64 now this.

I feel your pain, however, there are new people in the forum all the time, as this person is.
Many do not read the first post, etc. I would imagine and sadly, if you are going to keep this type of record you have to keep reminding as long as new folks come along, or, simply list the unknowns as ‘unknown’ and move on.

Yeah, sure, I know, that’s why I’ve kept saying the same thing again and again since 3 years  but still, it’s a bit tiring. I might use the “unknown” trick as you and @howard suggested, yeah, that’s a good idea even if the list will be less accurate. Probably a better option than just giving up, or doing a very incomplete list.

If only @Bassbot could parse these posts and fire an automated message. But trying to find the absence of titles/band names might be difficult to do programmatically. There would have to be an established format and then we are right back where we started… :upside_down_face:

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @bassbot display help.

Does “P” stand for “P-Bass”? Nicely done! Not sure why I wasn’t familiar with this considering its relation to 90s Weezer. Welcome, glad you’re enjoying the thread
