Well done! Love this song.
This is also the first cover I did. I played around with vocaloids for the vocals, I thought it fit in well with the mach-men theme ![]()

Thanks! Yep, it’s an easy song to play around with and a great example of cool music from that era!
James Brown - Papa’s got a brand new bag
Lately I’m focusing more on funk and this song is the foundation of the genre. It’s just tasty!
nice @Diego317 ! beware of your timing, you rush the groove sometimes ![]()
ADELE - ROLLING IN THE DEEP yall should probably know by now I don’t corner myself into a box with music. I dig all kinds of stuff. Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend! https://youtu.be/_mYlQwmAft0?si=iT9oML7OOL2W1O4k
Thank you for your feedback @terb! Yes I know, I need to relax more but sometimes I’m a little stressed in front of the camera and I tend to play before the beat.
When I play just for fun I feel like the timing is better.
Bro I’m the exact same. I can run through a song over and over and it goes great. Once the camera is on, the stress to “not mess up” kicks in, and chaos ensues haha
it took me four to five tries to get the one I posted down today without any hiccups ![]()
Yeah I feel you bro
I think many of us can relate! We had ‘band night’ last night and were trying to get one song down - we nailed it!!!
…then turned the camera on ![]()

Today, we go back to the 60s (1968, to be precise) and the anti-Vietnam War song, Fortunate Son.
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son ![]()
The bass track was played on my pink Ibanez EHB1000S (I know, not very 60s!), but I got a cool 60s overdriven tone out of it, via the Ampero One, then on into GarageBand.
The video was shot by my daughter, seeking to evoke the power of flowers, on the uncut verge outside our house.

It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no millionaire’s son, no, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate one, no
Love your tone on this, nice cover! And as always, my regards to the videographer.
Thanks @fennario. I was actually quite surprised that I was able to get that tone with the Ibanez. The Ampero One pedal I have is quite a revaluation, for the money you can create a huge range of tones!
I enjoyed that @beaurapp
Original bass line by Guy Pratt. The touring bass player for Pink Floyd. He did a series of videos during lock down which is why i know it’s his.
I reckon so brother. It’s quite unnerving to be honest, I have found myself letting some choice words rip every now and again haha ![]()
Love the funk @Diego317 like @terb said just don’t rush it.
It’s a funny phenomenon where we think we are not gonna make time or stay in time so we get a bit of the head start and hoping the momentum would carry over ![]()
My personal remedy for this is to practice it at 10% faster. Yeah even more note drag and you may feel that you are behind all the time but a few runs at this will recalibrate your muscles memory and when you go back to the original tempo, you are a lot more relaxed and more importantly you know you have the acceleration to make the fills.
So, my first cover. If you enjoy 6th grade clarinet recitals, this is gonna be right up your alley. According to GarageBand this was take #20.
@Whying_Dutchman your turn.
Talking Heads - Heaven
That’s freaking awesome @faydout I feel like smoking a joint. I actually went to to the original song since I’ve never heard of this before. Your’s pretty much spot on.
The original bass played a bit more staccato on the 5th but that comes with time. Good job man. More please!
Thank you, I think Tina (Weymouth) put a lot more squeeze on her notes than I was able to get. That was why I randomly bought another compressor, I wanted to see if I could get that squash she has going on her notes, and yeah. I whole lot of staccato. From the other Talking Heads songs I’ve played, that seems to be her style. I dig it, she’s become one of my top 2 or 3 bassists since I picked it up.
Thank you @Al1885 it’s a great suggestion! I’ll try your method
