We need more Garbage covers.
Thanks. I’ll definitely look into that. I just got my 210 extension cab in the mail today so I might have to cool my heels for a minute on account of the Mrs. but, I think recording equipment, is my next stop on the gear continuum. That and a multi FX pedal.
@Whying_Dutchman that sounded great! Looking forward to future covers as well! Freaking awesome!
Thanks!
I’ll wait for @faydout’s 2nd cover and @BozzerWolf’s 1st (feeling the pressure too, my friend?! ^^)…
Hopefully on my (still delayed) shorty.
Otherwise I’ll try some Drop D Garbage (= the band!) on my 24" Blackstar. Hopefully imaginary Shirley will approve
Yeah I never post videos of playing the song. Not so much because I am shy but because my workflow is really nonlinear and a video wouldn’t make much sense. “Here’s me laying down the drum track. Here’s me going back to the measures with fills and adding the fills. Here’s me copying and pasting the repeating sections. Here’s me mixing in the guitar part my buddy sent me. Here’s me playing the chorus, and where I go back and retake the bass intro because it sucked. Here’s a few hours of playing with plugins to get the tone and early mix right and gain stage everything.” etc etc

“Here’s me laying down the drum track. Here’s me going back to the measures with fills and adding the fills.
I’d watch that
yeah some kind of timelapse would be fun
Beautifully done ! You make it look so easy Al!
Here’s me watching @howard doing all of these things and learning how to do each and everything he just mentioned. I’m all in!
Very well done @Whying_Dutchman ! Great first cover video! Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you @JerryP it was a great stress relief kinda song. Lots of flying finger,

I would really really like to see that!!!
Man, it’s been way too long. Decided to give the 50 songs challenge a go, starting with #1.

Thanks @Al1885 ! This is with the EB Cobalt flatwounds (and my new compressor) and I freaking love the sound, not gonna lie.

Great playing, @fennario!
Thanks @sunDOG ! For someone who’s not particularly a Floyd fan, I appreciate you giving it a listen!
Yes, I’m not particularly into Floyd, but it’s funny how songs invoke memories. In particular, this songs is associated with a family Christmas with cousins in 1979… fond memories!
Anyway, as I said, great playing!!

I freaking love the sound, not gonna lie
that’s a great tone for sure, yeah

#1.
I like this song, very much - Drop D always rules
Sounds great too: that’s why I like Humbuckers!!!
A few days ago, some of us were discussing the relevance of simple songs. I put forward a view that you can learn something from most songs; just because something is simple, doesn’t mean it’s ‘bad’, or that it’s not worthy of playing, or covering.
This song is a case in point. There are only four notes in it, four. That’s it. The line repeats over and over again for four minutes.
And in that, you find the complication. You have to repeat it, perfectly each time, time after time, maintaining the focus, the concentration, the feel - in one continuous take. Then, if you’re obsessive, like me, you thicken the bass line out by playing it again. This time, with the added frisson of having to be perfectly in sync with the first track - again, in just one continuous take.
So here it’s is…did I manage it?
Melanie C - Never Be The Same Again
Ibanez EBH1000S into GarageBand, via Hotone Ampero One. Playing in the dark, on the Ibanez is fun…the fret markers on the side of the neck glow, but only for a while
