Something different from usual. This one is a wonderful Italian tune frome the '70s. I’m in love with this song! The cover it’s far from perfect and it’s full of mistakes but I really enjoyed playing it.
Also it’s new bass day for me and first time with flats!
Sounds great! Skynyrd is one of my all time favorite bands. So the story goes that Van Zant was so drunk that he couldn’t get his seatbelt on when their plane crashed, otherwise he probably would have lived. Such a senseless loss…
Only critique would be that I want to hear the bass more! Crank it in the mix!
Killed it as always. True story I had no idea that Jefferson Starship was basically the same band as Jefferson Airplane…how do you go from White Rabbit to We Built This City?!? What a terrible downgrade….hated the song but you nailed it!
Still watching as I’m responding and even though I’m only halfway through, I’ve seen enough to say whoa! What a fantastic cover @BumbleJazz ! Great job man!
You’ve done a fantastic job curating this, @Johnnyb, I’ve saved the playlist! The number of covers is quite stunning!! You can be sure I’ll be adding more . In fact……….
This is an improvised version of the Stereophonics song, Dakota.
I’ve had a go at a couple of stripped back songs over the past few weeks, so we thought we’d have a tilt at one, ‘live’, at last night’s band rehearsal.
While we play a normal version of Dakota, this version was completely unrehearsed. It’s a bit rough in places - I take a couple of bars to climb onto the groove and there are a couple of bum guitar notes in there - but I think with two or three more run throughs, we could pull it off. Gail nails the vocal and Sam (guitar) & Alex (drums) judge it just right!
For your next covers, could you specify the band name of the song that you’re covering ? like Stereophonics - Dakota
It’s quite confusing for me (for the listing I’m doing) that the band name doesn’t match the song (+ inverted band/song name + typo in the song name, it doesn’t make it easy)
I’ve got anywhere from 1 to about 6 that I’ll be trying to record this weekend (wouldn’t let loose all 6 at once if I can pull it off) depending on if I’m having a good day on bass or not. I’ve been working off of a “set list” of 8 songs to practice on for the past 2 weeks instead of burning out playing the same one 20 times. Two of them aren’t close to ready yet.
“We Built This City” was actually by ‘Starship,’ not Jefferson Starship. Both Jefferson Starship and Starship are still around and touring, but they’re two separate entities. Starship still plays Jefferson Starship material, since that’s the band from which they spawned. But yeah, it all started with Jefferson Airplane. The history is one big mess…lol. Anyway, thanks for checking it out!!
Never heard of this band before but you all did a great job on it! See, that’s why I love this thread so much. You have people from all over and different backgrounds in music they listen to, so we all get the advantage of hearing things we have never been introduced to before. Great job!
