Here’s my first cover: Ringo Starr’s “It Don’t Come Easy”.

It’s just a happy, bouncy song that I enjoy playing with my practice group.

I “graduated” B2B University in April '23, but didn’t want to get distracted by going down equipment and software rabbit holes. So I waited for a year to start buying GAS toys and learning audio and video software. I’m glad I did because things have changed so much from the analog days of reel-to-reel tape decks that the effort to master the current tools and procedures would almost certainly have completely derailed my beginner practice discipline.

I would definitely not have been able to throw together even this cheesy first attempt as quickly as I did without those awesome tutorials by @PamPurrs and @John_E. Thanks so much for putting those out there for first timers!

I now have a huge amount of new work to do. It’s amazing how many imperfections and bad habits you can see in these videos when you think you’ve been playing pretty well: uneven volume, uneven timing, a thumb sticking up like an antenna behind the neck, poor fretting, etc. etc. Plus lots of improvements to be made on the recording/editing side.

Hope this link works:

Yes, I think as an idea for this song, it works quite well. This was the first time we tried it like this - we can play the standard version pretty well - we really were just noodling around. If you look at Alex (drums) you can see him trying things out - at one point he ended up with a stick in his mouth

I’m going to encourage us to play the song again this way!!

I like bangin’ @Blaze

Thanks Glenn. It’s a BB734A* going through a Zoom B1X Four to an Ampeg RB-210. The bass and amp are mostly neutral with just a little weighting toward the high end and the bridge pickup. I defined a channel on the Zoom with just a touch of reverb and tremelo.

  • With LaBella Deep Talking Flats.

If you release this, I will buy it!

Listened to the original a few times and then yours - it has so much potential!

Had the same feeling as I had with “Everlong” by Foo Fighters.
Didn’t like the original. but the acoustic version (slowed down, less busy, better voice! - just like your cover!) really got me.

Meh:

Yay:

EDIT My girlfriend just listened to it and says you need to give the singer more volume! We want to hear more of her

Love the bow tie as well

Thanks @sunDOG. But the bow tie is nothing without the orange sweater vest and the nerd glasses.
