Thanks and yes to the reps! Once I’ve recorded a cover (all two of them, but a couple of others that aren’t really covers) they shift into my daily practice routine (after the boring scales and arpeggios etc.) and before any lessons or new covers. So I continue to work on them.
Excellent playing dlamson13! Very well done!
Thanks Al! I snuck that harmonic slide in
Jeff Ament is a known fretless man, but on this track I’m pretty sure he is plays a regular bass with a pick. It’s easy to make that technique gimicky if you overdo it, but as spider man says, with great power comes great responsibility ![]()
Thanks Jerry!
lol, it’s from where I Iean over behind me to hit space on my keyboard to start the song, I end up with a face full of hair. Not that I don’t tend to end up with a face full by the time I finish but eh…
Thanks! I can’t say I have any clue what I’m doing around tone but I do like the new strings, they’ve got a lovely resonance to them. ![]()
I suspect I’ll start learning more once my Boss gets here.
That said, they sound great through the Solo, playing without headphones is not so great. They definitely seem noisier on the guitar itself. Or maybe I’m getting lazy about fret buzz etc cause I only play through my amp now when I’m recording a video. I don’t hear it at all through the direct monitor.
Nice one
And that is a lovely bass, I could almost be tempted.
Can’t say I ever got into Pearl Jam, I’ll have to check them out more as that was a great song.
Great cover too ![]()
Super light and no neck dive! I was a little worried as up to now I’ve only played medium scale 32" basses. After about an hour I do feel a little shoulder strain from holding my arm out that little bit further but not progressive and I’m sure it will go as I get more used to it!
Oh boy, that tone was FAT! Some timing issues here and there that could be tighter but I was nodding along to that one! Well done! Can’t wait to see your next entry.
Thank you! Yeah, some of those section changes still trip me up, I’ll be keeping this one in rotation for practice though so will be interesting to do a remake in a few months perhaps.
I definitely love these strings
The track settings I used in reaper were identical to my previous video and it’s a noticeable difference to the sound aside from just the bass volume being up higher this time ![]()
I recorded this a few months ago and never bothered to post it. Not sure how y’all feel about this genre, but I am a sucker for a good beat. Had to record this in two tracks. The first is the main beat, the second track is the little high pitched two note bit which overlaps and is impossible to play simultaneously.
So, in the words of Monty python…and now for something completely different
Eminem - Drug Ballad

Thanks @Morkai! That tune is definitely a fan favorite.
Definitely different. ![]()
The bass could be a little higher in the mix, it was hard to catch at first but that may be because the vocals were a bit distracting.
Most definitely not my genre, but kudo’s for putting out something different ![]()
Very nice brother! Love PJ!
Mayer Hawthorne - For All Time
This one is the title track from the album. Not sure why I’ve been putting this one off, it’s so groovy!
Another video from last Friday’s rehearsal. This time, we’re covering The Cult’s fantastic song, Lil’ Devil.
This was recorded on my iPhone, propped up on a plug socket, so the sound quality isn’t great and the vocal is a little lost. Notwithstanding, you get the idea!
The Invertants - Lil’ Devil (The Cult)
Thanks for watching ![]()
Very nice Scott! I enjoyed that, great tone and groove. I see that you couldn’t wait that you didn’t take the plastic off the tuners. ![]()
Very well done sunDOG!
I like your version of Dakota in principal better than the original. Slowing it down, making the song less busy and a very good female voice does the trick for me.
I guess this is the biggest compliment I can make!
I really would like to hear this again - recorded after a few more rehearsals, as this version really has some rough edges…
