Awesome playing as always @JustinAndSheba

That’s a great first cover. @bfrederi1

I would not worry too much about the volume and slight shift in time, I bet when you practice without the camera pointing at you, you are more in the pocket. When we press “record” that’s the start of “trying too hard”,

It’s the trying to hard syndrome

You have to perfect the Art of not Giving a Sh!t when playing :joy:

Good news is we are all suffer from this. Good playing @Morkai

One tip I can suggest to you.
when you move your hand into the next position, it seems like you are looking at the distance between and not the destination. Just skip that and look at the destination note and you’ll warp there, no travel time. :grinning:

haha, yeah, another year or two maybe

Thank you

Interesting observation, I’ll keep that in mind. Although I suspect what you might be seeing is my seeming inability to tell 6/7th fret from 8/9th fret without eyeballing the ones in between. If I try and shoot straight up the fret board I end up skipping a few. I get 8 and 10 mixed frequently as well.

Is fret dyslexia a thing?

Great playing @Paul_9207
At first I jumped a bit, you are standing next to the drums playing then I saw that you had the IEM on. :joy:

Double cream awesome @Ant
So smooth and syncopated got my head nodding along, it’s such a fun bass song with all of the counter melodies.

Then try practicing in the dark a few sessions, by not looking you have to learn to trust the instinct.

That’s most of the time actually, I play by the glow of my monitors most evenings  It’s how I’ve gotten as comfortable with the fret board as I have. Fingers crossed just more time and practice then.

It happens to us all I think. Since I have to do it all in one take, no editing or mixing, I have got to play it dang near perfect. One blaring mistake and I start over :man_facepalming: I’ve actually had to take an hour and a half on a video before I got it correct. Everything from brain fog to running out of space on my phone to the internet buffering, you name it, it’s happened!! Days like that some may mistake me for a sailor :man_shrugging::rofl:

Yup, same here, I have not mastered the art of video editing past trimming the start and end and sticking a title on it in iMovie.

Technically two takes, cause I lay audio and video down separately, so they have to be as dang near perfect as possible so they sync. I know most people watching are not studying the fretting and plucking to see they match the audio but I will always know…

Given my love of singing along there is no way in hell I am ever letting the audio track to the video go out on the interwebs… The world ain’t ready for that

I do the same thing, I want to play bass along to great tracks not become a video producer. Title and ending is all you need.

After more than 50 covers, I don’t do much more. At first I was recording the audio and video in separate takes ; I don’t do that anymore. I record the audio on the DAI while recording the video with my phone, all at the same time.

I still have to do a sync, obviously, but it’s really easy and it doesn’t take much time. Probably less than one minute.

I started that way too, but I just kept learning one thing after another in the pursuit of better sounds and video. But even putting out audio and video from your phone is better than nothing.

That’s 100% vanity :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I look like a dork with bloody great headphones on, also I can’t get into the song as much cause they keep falling off when I move my head too much

So vids have been done up till now playing through my amp. I did experiment with my Katana Go and some in ears this week. It definitely lessens the pain the rest of the household have to suffer from listening to me do 50 takes  Like TheMadBassist I tend to find my inner sailor (not that she is buried very deep at any given time) around take 20…

Audio is done via the DAI with headphones on.

I was just saying that you can keep the video part very minimal and it’s perfectly fine

Or just nope out completely and simply use WinAmp visualizers for the video, like I do

Heh, it was somewhat of a dare from a friend of mine to put myself out there to help build my self confidence which is typically somewhere around non existent. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
