As you say, sound quality isn’t great, but it’s a great song to do a cover of! It’s on my list too!!
Rock on!!

At this point I just do them to have fun. Once I can get better stuff to start recording with, then they will vastly improve. Thanks for the feedback bro and support.
That’s such a cool song with awesome chord progression. So chill man. I enjoy that very much @fennario
That tone is just awesome.
I think this is the last one from the batch I recorded last week. I’ve got 1 or 2 more but I didn’t like how the recording came out. I may re-record them.

Thanks @Al1885 ! Wilco has a super chill vibe. Not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of bass, but I’ve always loved this song and wanted to make a cover. Work has been absolutely insane for the past few months with not a lot of time to devote to bass, and it felt like it took me ages to memorize this one.
Man, that tone is just so badass!
That’s just massive tone @faydout The break is just so dramatic. Such a cool stoner song man!
Thank you both. I love playing around with the way things sound. I may not be very good just yet at actually playing but I can sure try to sound good while I suck
Also, I’ll be recording one on Sunday (yes @Morkai on video) that should be very different than what I’ve covered so far. I’ll be dipping my toe into the prog pool just a teensy bit.
Very nice bro!!
Great band and cover dude!!
Since last weekends rendition of Little Richard’s Good Golly, Miss Molly; a) I’ve had a rather full on few days and b) when I can, I’ve been grooving to the 12-bar.
I happened across this song, Country Girl, by Johnny Otis on Thursday and loved the feel of the song, even though I wasn’t bowled over by the lyrics, which are certainly of their time, (1960, to be precise).
Anyway, in deciding to cover it, I also decided to edit out some of the vocal, which was delivered by Delmar Evans & Johnny Otis.
The complication with this song is staying on top of the groove. And stay on top of the groove I did, 6 times. Yes, the baseline is in fact 6 individual complete recordings

You can see that I’m playing my ultra-modern Ibanez EHB1000S, but with foam shoved under the strings, near the bridge to try to get a more muffled tone. I actually quite like the sound that you get doing this and I’m tempted to leave the foam there . I was also quite surprised that it did not push the bass out of tune; one of the things that is remarkable about these basses is just how stable they are. The bass was played into the Hotone Ampero One (clean bass tone), and on into Garage Band.
Great job TMB! Good luck with the band.
Awesome song fennario! Wonderfully done!
Thanks @TheMadBassist ! Have to find some more good Wilco tunes to cover, or even Uncle Tupelo.
Thanks @sunDOG ! I admire both your proficiency and volume of output! (Output volume is fine too…)
Nice cover!! Groove indeed! And six times??? That’s dedication, mate.
Thanks @JerryP ! Freudian slip perhaps?
sounds good, great playing!
I better put my money where my mouth is and get my own next cover out one of these days.
I’m having trouble deciding what to do and whether to do it on the Dingwall or the Yamaha… decisions, decisions…
You already know which one is coming next, I tried it on the BB but for whatever reason, I can emote the bass line better on the Reverend.
