good job! full video production and everything. makes my first cover look like a hot bag of crap.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments everyone it’s a bit nerve wracking sharing for the first time!
Now to see if I can work my way up to some of the faster and trickier songs I like.
(@Paul_9207 For the video I’d already played around a bit with Capcut so used that, I found it very user friendly to get started with.)
A bit more Roll ‘n’ Roll for ya! This time, Let’s Have A Party, recorded by Wanda Jackson in 1958 and released as a single in 1960.
Once again, a variation on the classic 12-bar progression. I promise the next one will be something different…
Wanda Jackson - Let’s Have A Party
This time, playing my Dingwall with an improvised foam mute under the strings at the bridge, into the Ampero One, then in into GarageBand.
Awesome first cover saroohoo! Nice and smooth. Well done!
I friend ask me to do this, nothing special to see here. I posted it to add to the end of the year count.
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - Sherry
Good one @JerryP Such an earworm. A while back it was playing at my restaurant and my kids were singing “Sherry” for a few days in the car,
Muted strings sounds awesome, very vintage. Good job @sunDOG
@sunDOG You always look like you have so much fun playing, love it
Thanks Al! It does get stuck in your head, doesn’t it?
I find it interesting, @Al1885, that you take a pretty modern bass and, with a bit of tweaking, get a vintage tone. I did the same thing with my Ibanez last weekend and was pretty surprised by the results!
Hell, yes, @saroohoo! It’s so much fun, especially a song with such silly lyrics!
I never kissed a bear, I never kissed a goon
But I can shake a chicken in the middle of the room
How can you not have fun!
Great job sunDOG!
A bit rough (always start messing up when I record myself) but here is a cover of Respect, by Aretha Franklin! I’m playing this one at my next School of Rock show. The theme is Punk vs Funk!
Here’s one more cover! Some mistakes for sure. My hands are killing me after rehearsal last night! This is “Por Eternidad” by a local band, The Crystal Tears. My friend from grad school is the bassist! They’re going for a gothic latin soul style. I figured this out by ear.
Two very awesome covers @beaurapp ! Try to record your School of Rock performance and post here.
Very well done!
Thank you so much! I plan on getting some footage. It’s a fun set list!
@saroohoo ,
Top Shelf There Rock Star!!
Well Done ,
Cheers
@sunDOG ,
So Dig That Cartoon Filter
Well Done ,
Cheers
Oh no that was actually a really nice cover . Good choice on the Ibanez - I would have gone for the Hofner for the vintage sound but I always underestimate modern basses
What’s the box thing sticking out of the jack? I think there are two leads coming out of it…
Looks like a Katana: Go headphone amp, with headphones and usb cord plugged in.
Aha - You could be right! Oh very flashy, @JerryP
