There isn’t an achievement for longest post, but there should be, and you get it.
Well done.
Oh, no, let’s not make that a goal! Short and snappy, that’s the ticket. Serve the song.
Thank you @John_E for your kind words regarding my covers and playing!
. I’d love one, in black!! BUT, don’t think I’d get away with it!!
Regarding the Adams / Summer of 69 cover, it got taken down by YouTube. Seems Mr Adams isn’t cool with the cover thing…
BTW, could I thank you on behalf of us all for the effort that you make in watching everyone’s videos and the time it takes to comment? Chapeau!!
We would need Toby back for that contest though ![]()
Thanks Nebel!
I actually had the bass mixed a bit higher, but I thought it was a little too much.
This cover thread is great…how do you post the YT covers? I keep getting a “no links allowed” response…
Can’t have too much of a good thing!
I think you might just need to make a few posts on the forum before it allows you to add a link ![]()
I’ll give that a shot…thank you!
That was great! Very cool song for your first cover and you played it so well. That editing…I’m looking at my first two videos and how unprofessional they look!
That’s great, @JerryP.
Would agree, bass needs to be a bit more forward in the mix. But then, I love cranking up the bass ![]()
Thank you sunDOG! I guess I shouldn’t over think the mix and go with my first impression. ![]()
Thank you! I don’t know if we want vocals though. I tried that before and I didn’t like it very much. I suppose I could try harder though.
Forgot I was listening to a cover. Just perfect.
Thank you, John!
First foray in to fretless.
Stand By Me - Ben E. King
Sire Marcus Millar V7 Fretless, passive mode, neck pick up with the tone dialled off, into the Ampero One on a clean tone, then on into Garage Band, where I further boosted the bass and cut the treble. I played the track twice and put ‘stereo spread’ on both to get some real depth.
First impressions of the fretless bass? The neck feels lovely, but the controls are way too complex (plus I need to learn them)! You can also see that I’m staring at the fretboard, trying to make sure I land the fretting fingers in the right place. Those lines certainly help, I’d be completely lost without them!! With a bit of care, and on easier songs, it’s actually not too bad. I have tried some more complex, faster songs … let’s just say that’s going to take some practice!! ![]()
The buzzing at the beginning is on the backing track - Moises had trouble effectively splitting this one…
Great work Jerry! Very American, if I may say so ![]()
Excellent first try with the fretless, sunDOG. Really fits well.
Time to dig out the chorus and try Music for Chameleons!
Sounds great, sundog! I never heard of a fretless bass guitar before your post and went to go read about it…very interesting. Classic bass line and your version sounds nice and clean.
