Sounded great @saroohoo !
and i liked the lo-fi video quality - just pretend you meant it to be that way
Yes, there was something odd about the backing track. I split an MP3 using Moises (as I usually do) and ended up with background noise on it, that for the most part calms down after the songs intro. That said, Moises really didn’t like trying to split this song!
Mine actually said something similar except the pitying thing. As much crap as she gives me about buying bass guitars from strange men who show up at my house, she digs seeing me being not so serious all the time.
Very well done Nebel! Not familiar with the band or the song but it was very good!
Loved the song and awesome job on the playing! I think the video is fine; very retro looking!
Great job on this cover man! I’ve heard it as “satanic Abba”, which totally fits as well. This is probably my favorite Ghost tune, and is on the “to be covered” list for sure!
James Hetfield said something along the lines of wishing that Metallica had written this. You know you’ve made it when he’s covering your riffs!
Ooh Baby - Fleetwood Mac
Studying British Blues introduced Peter Greenwood’s Fleetwood Mac to me. In January Exploring their albums I came across OoH Baby on the Fleetwood Mac in Chicago album. This song motivated me to improve my plucking speed and technique. I used the song’s riff for vocals verses and improvise for the instrumental verses. Might not be perfect, but working up to a 1/16th note riff at 120 bpm…had to celebrate.
Nice job on this @JerryP ! This was a favorite of my dad’s and something he would always say to me. Haven’t heard it in a while.
Great job @sunDOG ! Would love to try a fretless one day, but for now I think I have my hands full enough as it is. Well played! Agree there’s a lot to understand about the preamp on these, but it’s really quite good once you figure out what does what.
Nice job @JohnF ! Sounded great! Hope we get to see more from you.
Nice cover! That’s a fun song that I’d never heard before, really enjoyed it.
Jerry - I remember listening to Hot Rod Lincoln in high school. Your Bass line keeps that song moving along like a hot rod Lincoln in Overdrive…although it was best you didn’t use a lot of overdrive in the tone!
Really nice work and loved the to see you groovin in it. Good bass tone as well!
Yeah, I kinda wish I had ditched the distortion and tried to cut though the mix instead.
@JohnF glad you liked it. Ghost are definitely worth diving into. It’s super melodic and just a lot of fun.
@sunDOG just yesterday I was eating a mochi ice, very messily and my wife was just “how old are you?!?!?” I always remind her I’m proud of retaining my youth and that she’s 8 months older than me
@John_E Boss Foss should give you the sweet talker achievement thanks John.
@fennario thanks for posting that. Never saw that before. Very cool, and thanks!
@JerryP thanks Jerry! I can only recommend Ghost as the main man’s ear for melodies are amazing. Sweden generally produce a lot of quality music.
Guitarist from Entombed mused it was because of the success of ABBA. Lots of money are going into music. Said rehearsal rooms are plenty and they never had problems getting some and off good quality.
Thanks all for the comments
Yep I record using a Focusrite 4i4 into my laptop (I don’t actually have an amp) then play around with it in Garage Band
@John_E - I added a little retro effect over the top for that reason
I decided to try Davinci Resolve for the first time (free version) to edit the video. Pffft that thing is intense. I only discovered half the controls after I was finished!
I feel like moving around sometimes helps me keep time too (I actually put the static images up in the break bit to hide the most embarrassing dancing though )
Thank you fennario!
Great job 401Blues! You have a nice groove going there!
Just a bit because it sounded like it needed something.
Thanks!
Moved, my bad.
there is a post for partial covers : Post your practice fragments!
Oops, sorry. I will move it.
no problem !
