Post your covers! (2024)

Little tip, I don’t know about other software but the free Audacity software can add a metronome track. It’s really easy to use but not as powerful as full blown editors. I use it if I’m not doing anything too fancy including occasionally adding a metronome track on backing tracks where the timing is particularly difficult.

Credence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising

A message of doom, dressed up as a happy country song…

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye

FFS!! And then the kittens died, then we died, and then everyone died!

Look, I’m a HAPPY person, revelling in the knowledge that we get to see, and through incredible science, start to understand a universe that is c. 13.7bn years old, while we stand on a planet that is c. 4.6bn years old, and play bass!! :metal:

Spector NS2000/4 > Ampero One > GarageBand. Baseline played three times, then panned left, right and one straight down the centre to get a natural chorus.

Fantastic. What a great bass part in that tune. Gonna try it!

Great job on a very difficult bass part. I am new to bass (but have played guitar), and I joined SOR a couple months ago. Our show is in December. I am very excited. Seems like you are enjoying the experience too. Keep it up.

Great job sunDOG! Covered it for the 50 Song challenge and it’s fun to play!

Thanks, @Nebel! Yes, two a week since January. I want to get to the end of the year at this cadence, then take stock :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Post it, @macshark :sign_of_the_horns: it’s a fun one to play, providing you don’t dwell on the lyrics

I really should take a look at the 50 songs, the trouble is I feel like a kid in a sweatshop, eyes wide at all the cool songs I could have a go at. Watching films is a nightmare, I end up googling sound tracks and adding more and more songs to the list! :face_with_peeking_eye:

Thank you! That intro/outro is pretty quick. Hope you’re enjoying your experience! What’s your show theme?

Here is another cover from my show! I have one more after this one. This is “I Feel For You” by Prince. A little more simple, but I really enjoyed playing this one.

Would love to see your video but when I try and open it I get the message:

Oh, that is interesting. Would that be Breaking The Law? I thought it was only blocked in Russia for some unfathomable reason . Whereabouts in the world are you?

Oh, I thought it was because you are now a famous bass band member and up and coming star. :star_struck: :hugs:

I am in Canada.

 Yeah, that would be it!

That was a lot of fun to listen to. Great job!

Well done @AndreaJayne. I actually went away to listed to three version of that song, just to listed to how the baseline was played. All ‘straight’, as you played it, but maaaaaaan, I’d want to swing it! :face_with_peeking_eye:

Thanks @sunDOG. It was tempting to add a bit of fuzz, or distortion, but I just stuck with the clean sound in the end

So I had the chance to add the finishing touches to another cover that had been hanging around a while. I am of course playing bass on it, but I got a little creative with the video for this (and The Middle - Jimmy Eat World), instead of just doing the tried and tested ‘film yourself playing’ format that we love.
I hope they are still enjoyable.
