That’s my all time tears for fear’s favorite. You made it look so easy. That’s just awesome job.

Thanks Al :slightly_smiling_face: I love that tune too.

I loved how relaxed you are when you play! I was a teen in the 80’s so Tears for Fears is in my wheelhouse

Loved it

Thanks @Buzzin_Canada-John. I’m a bit of a daydreamer so I’m probably zoning out half the time

The struggle is real! I’ve caught myself losing focus thinking things like, “wow the strings really feel round today”

It’s a fantastic song, @howard. As you say, it’s all about that bass line!

Thanks, @TheMadBassist. I / we have now got the bug … we need to play again!!

Thanks, @JerryP!

Ah, playing in the wild is where it’s at! Great fun, even if a little nerve wracking!!

 Yup I’ve also had moments where I’m recording then got distracted by a bit of dirt on my finger or something and totally forgot about the take.

Had to have a stern word with myself - FOCUS damnit.

My excitement also is a HUGE distraction I think I get giddy when I start rocking. I’m playing an open mic tomorrow night and really hope I don’t get carried away. :pbass: :chipmunk:

Hey mate - can’t stop from coming back to this song, put it into my ears and just chugging away with it. It’s not overcomplicated and just drags me, sucks into the rhythm. Thanks for showing it (and your cover is still better than the original

Absolutely, I’ll nail something I’ve been working on or just get a really cool sound on something I’ve already got down and suddenly forget the next couple of notes.

Exciting - I’m sure you’ll be ace :sunglasses:

I keep thinking ‘remember to smile’, then mess up what I’m playing

@MattyD Wow, hope it goes well for you!

I see all these covers and start thinking “what’s a stupidly easy song so I can join in the covers”. Then I realize that I’m not at that point yet. I should really get beyond module 3 before I start thinking about doing covers. Unless y’all want to see me just play whole note roots for the entire song…

I’d say U2’s with or without you or Radiohead’s Creep.

Just play and have fun. If you REALLY hate it you don’t have to post it but just learning an easy song is a great confidence booster!

I wanted to post my initial trainwrecks because when I get better I want to be able to look back and see progress. If you are making progress who the heck cares how good you are… Eventually if you keep making progress you’ll end up great or at least having more fun

The Cranberries - Dreams is also a very easy song to pick up  Similar to With Or Without You … And a great tune too

Don’t knock the root note thing… there are many, many songs that have thunderous bass lines, relying on root notes.

Pick a song, learn it, play it and join the fun!
