@Barney - that should be about the same size as my little Blackstar.
On a flight from Hamburg/Germany to Nice/France this was rejected by Lufthansa (as hand luggage). That is why came up with my disassembly solution above.
I would always check beforehand when taking a flight, as this can go terribly wrong.
I found that some hotline agents would say “yes, this can be hand luggage” while others accused me of being a terrorist and sent me a SWAT team (must have been a guitar player ^^).
So even if you get a GO by phone, make them send you an email to confirm that.
Or use my solution: remove the neck, even for tiny basses!

I’ve been traveling around the world for four years with this and I never had a flight attendant or TSA agent tell me I couldn’t hand carry it on the plane. It fits in the overhead bin and has a built in headphone amp and aux input.

a) In Europe you pay about 200€ for the Blackstar. The Kala is $349!?
b) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 
c) I envy you. I have a fear of flying and needed to fly twice per week for about four years in a previous job. I also want to move into the mountains … or better: the Provence!
@JerryP - maybe your natural charm works better than mine. Did you fly Lufthansa too? The Germans are known for not being chilled about regulations…

Actually, I have flown Lufthansa to Bahrain three times without an issue. You are correct about Germans and their strict security. They looked in the gig bag and then let it pass through. Security in Bahrain had no problem with it either.

My driver’s license says I live in New Jersey, but that’s debatable.

Just had a look at the TB-4P Bass. So, what is really great is their solution for using standard strings.
I had a hell of a time to find strings for my Blackstar. I even tried to shorten normal strings with various methods - not very succesfully and I killed some great/expensive flatwounds in the process.
Now you can get Blackstar-specific strings at Amazon, but your TB-4P gives you much more degrees of freedom in that respect! I like!
