Post your covers! (2024)

I don’t think there’s any love lost there anymore:

Reznor and Manson were once close, with Reznor signing him to his label Nothing Records and co-producing his first two albums. He later cut ties, and in 2009 called Manson “a malicious guy [who] will step on anybody’s face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he’s become a dopey clown.”

Following the allegations of the five aforementioned women this week, further women have alleged abuse from Manson.

Not a very nice guy, it would seem.

Had this bassline stuck in my head after seeing somebody cover it on YouTube and had to do a cover of my own. I initially thought this song needed a pick attack and started learning it that way. Then switched halfway through and decided I was going to play it fingerstyle instead. I held a small plastic cap with my pinky and ring fingers to keep the pinky from running off into the other room. I’ll have to start practicing that way until eventually I won’t need to.

Anyway, here’s a cheery little ditty:

Morrissey - Everyday is Like Sunday

Great job @fennario That was fantastic! I haven’t heard that song in… at least over a decade. I didn’t realize it had such a fun bassline. I probably need to go listen to some more Morrissey.

Thanks @Paul_9207 !

It’s fun going back and re-listening to music that I was interested in merely as a listener, and finding things like this which are super interesting to me now from the perspective of playing bass. I’d forgotten how catchy the bassline was, if I ever in fact actually realized it. This was Stephen Street on bass, but now I’m excited to go rediscover The Smiths again and listen to Andy Rourke’s bass with a bit more attention. I’ve been listening to Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now quite a bit on rotation with this one, maybe I’ll give it a go at some point. It has an incredible bassline - probably a step up in difficulty. All the more reason to start working on it.

That’s just epic! Love the down the neck camera angle. I’m a big fan of the $$ Vette. I envy your discipline of alternating plugging fingers.

Cool Cover!

Why stop the pinky from running running off into the other room? My pinky looks like I’m drinking tea when playing. Is that wrong?

Actual picture of me, playing bass:

Thanks guys!

@Al1885 I always wanted to do a shot like that, and after a not too terribly expensive clamp mount magically showed up at my doorstep, I figured I’d give it a try.

I’m really liking the $$!

Nothing wrong at all! That’s exactly what mine does - I kinda just want to see if I can bring it under control. If I can make it do what I want it to do rather than what it’s naturally inclined to do, then maybe there’s hope for the left hand as well.

Great job @Ant greattone and I love the syncopation and how the bass lines weave in and out of the groove.

Double awesome @sunDOG. I’ve only heard of the new version but found myself loving the more groovy older version. You did awesome on both but I’m definitely sold on the first one.

That’s fantastic @Paul_9207 solid playing. I’m so jealous, I wish I have a twin brother that can play instruments too.
