Thanks Al for taking the time to listen to all of these covers! I appreciate the feedback and you gave me some things to think about for the next ones. Hope all is well!
Smooth playing, Duncan! Nice work! Good luck with the dep gig!
Lucinda Williams - I Lost It
From the 1998 album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.
Dude! That was awesome! Soooo good
Thanks John, I always look forward to your input.
And… stop the clock!
There I was last Friday evening, enjoying the new Alice Cooper album, and I thought Ed, why not try speedrunning a couple of songs? You know, get a reasonable cover published quickly as possible? It is a worthy album, of course only time will tell whether it is classic Alice, but there are some great songs on there.
I chose One Night Stand and got to work! Thanks to a combination of Moises and Transcribe!, what I refer to as the @Lanny method, I was able to work out the notes by Sunday and the rest of thw week was spent experimenting with the tone and rehearsing…
The Jack Casady was perfect - it really doesn’t need any extra processing. Although I’m thinking of getting a preamp - maybe a Sansamp?
So… One Night Stand by Alice Cooper
I didn’t know there was a new Alice Cooper album! Time to hit Amazon I think.
I ‘did’ have all of his albums. Some were on cassette, so were lost to the wind eons ago, and one (The Beast Of Alice Cooper) I still have the cover for. I lent it someone, and had to steal it back from them without realising the sleeve was empty ![]()
Great job on the cover Ed ![]()
@JohnF Well played John, that’s a good Sunday morning tune
@sunDOG More from the 50’s? Better get yourself some Brillcream for that dep-gig.
Teenager In Love is a true classic that a lot of people will have heard. Nicely done
That was nice and mellow John! Great job!
Great job getting that out so quickly! Nice work! Did you make a tab for it?
Great job, Ed! I like that bass part (post-chorus?) after the lyrics “One Night Stand”…very catchy. The instrumental solo looked like fun to play. Cool song.
Nice job dude. Love it
Ended up having the weekend off and unexpected canceled plans and I wanted to try to learn a song today.
I have never listened to this band before today - I was chatting with a staff member of ours the other day and we started talking music. She recommended this band and in an effort not to be one of those people that never listens to or watches other peoples recommendations, I gave it a go. Not my favorite, but it’s growing on me. Good stoner music. This one’s pretty easy, tabs in the video if you want to play along!
Rainbow Kitten Surprise - Cocaine Jesus
Hi,
This is my first (recorded) bass cover. I played guitar for more than 10 years, but about two years ago I switched to bass. Any comments, advice and tips would help a lot because I’m a new beginner in home studios, and I’m a complete beginner in recording drop tuning.
Touché Amoré - Non Fiction (Revived) [Remixed/Remastered]
Great first cover @justarookie !
This was an exercise in alternate playing staccato and regular notes.
The Turtles - Happy Together
Thanks for watching.
Wow that was perfect @JerryP
Thank you so much John!
2nd of my 3-recording night.
Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother:
“I’ve been a fan of Wolfmother since the first time I heard them. Amazing energy and I’m a sucker for anyone who uses Frank Frazetta for their album art.”
This one was a real workout. My timing isn’t perfect in spots but overall I’m happy with it.
Sounds great Jerry!
Thanks @AndreaJayne ! Oh I had ‘Beast of …’ on tape too - it spent a lot of time in my walkman before someone pinched it.
Thanking you @JerryP - swiftly and with style is my motto
No tab but now I’m wondering if I should put it on songsterr or something for posterity. Might be a good exercise…
Yeah there are some great little moments in that bassline @JohnF
I’m not sure what style of music it is. Kind of post 50s horror rockabilly?
Thanks @John_E
Hope all is well with you!
