Very well done! All your work is just great.
Oh oh oh! Well it looks like we have a winner ![]()
Oh that looks so cool. I reckon that will be in Santa’s sack this Christmas (if not earlier) ![]()
This is where I purchased mine: The Bass Bazaar .com.
The link doesn’t show here properly, but it looks something like this:

Well it’s been about a month since my last cover - trying to find the time to play while keeping up with the whirlwind that is Seattle sports has proven quite difficult! I’ve also been a little under the weather the last few days unfortunately, which sucks because I have tickets to game 5 of the ALDS tomorrow! Argghhh.
Woke up this morning feeling determined to learn something, though I didn’t think I’d knock it out in just a few hours! I couldn’t find a reliable transcription so I just did it myself. Most transcriptions I see have the A & B played on the 2nd fret, but I kept getting crossed up that way, and I hear a distinct slide down from the B which is sort of hard to do when you’ve only got one fret to work with ![]()
Probably the best bass line on the album (best song too IMO)
Death Cab for Cutie - Crooked Teeth
Super smooth playing on a beautiful bass! Great job!
Hey, everyone. Here’s another Pretenders song I played with my band: “My City Was Gone”. Fairly simple but lots of fun for improvising and playing around.
Hmm I think they may be sold out but there are some available at Thomann. I’ll probably leave some notes around the house for the missis to see for Christmas ![]()
Pushing ahead with my Zeppelin month, I present What is and What should Never Be - a fine track off Led Zeppelin 2 (possibly the finest Zep album!). The verse section was a bit tricky because there was no clear beat behind it but the click track really helped ![]()
Also it was difficult to balance the bass volume between the verse and chorus sections. I really need to start learning some production, although apparently the original album was written and recorded in whatever studio was available while on tour …
So……after much thought, I’ve decided to stop posting covers in the forum. Not that anyone would really give two cents haha, but I’m at the point that if you already follow me on YouTube, then I’m basically double posting the videos and I don’t see the need to do that anymore. As far as I am aware of, about 6 or 7 members regularly support my channel here and there, and they make that known on Youtube. I wanted to post this just so the ones that do interact with me know why I won’t be in the forum in the future. I really appreciate the people that have given me the time of day and support. It truly means a lot. I will still post covers on my channel if you’re remotely interested in that. I wish everyone well on their bass journey and much success! Peace out ![]()
I enjoy your posts/covers so sorry to see you go. I am sub’d to your YT though ![]()
Not sure what it should be, but I do know what it is… an outstanding job on this @Ed !!!
Awesome playing Ed!
You did great with this walking line, nice and even and warm, very fun to listen to, had to play it twice!
Thank you so much Dan!
With the discussion of Sting over in another thread, it gave me the idea to cover something from him. This one is pretty simple and straightforward, so thought it might be a good candidate for playing on the fretless, which I’m starting to learn how to play. (Even though I’m only playing it pretty much like a fretted bass here.) I’m really enjoying this new Sire bass.
Sting - Fields of Gold
This one just kinda popped up. I had it play for me the other day and dug the bass for it.
Deftones - Mascara
Awesome job everyone with all the covers!
I’m inspired to start submitting my own videos, oh man I hate being in front of the camera… but I can see this being a great tool to improve my playing.
I think it’s also nice to put a face to a name, makes this community even warmer and closer ![]()
