Post your covers! (2025)

Well played, not bad at all! This really looks like a left hand workout. How do you compare it to Billy Jean? It seems most of his songs’s bass lines are a little challenging. He had a very creative bassist. A great weekend to you as well!

Thank you! As far as my thumbnails go, I try to find something to create that connects the thumbnail to the song. Sometimes it doesn’t work and I’ll just kind of do whatever though. Appreciate you!

Thank you so much! I did give Billie Jean some of my time months back, but it seemed out of reach then. I would like to go back to it one day and try again. If I had to compare them, I would say Bad is more of a physical song since it is a left hand cramp inducer, whereas Billie Jean had a more mental approach to it, and just keeping up with the same pattern over and over. Don’t get me wrong, both of them have that repetitive thing going on which makes them both a mental workout, but Bad just has that edge to it where it becomes more physical since you have to constantly stretch the left hand and use the pinky over and over (something I’m not used to). His bassists definitely had the skills and absolute phenomenal creativity that I would love to have. Thank you :folded_hands:

Great job Travis, it is a very good bass line

Thank you my friend, very much appreciated! MJ’s songs do have some very cool, although challenging basslines. I’m glad I attempted it, as I need to start using my pinky more. This song dealt it to me in spades!

Well played, dude! That looked like a tricky song. Definitely would have liked to hear the bass higher in the mix. Great job on this one. I think they played this song at my wedding (well, the Pachelbels’ Canon version ).

Great job, Travis! That is a bad cover (gotta keep the bad puns rollin’)! Really well played!

METALLICA - HALO ON FIRE https://youtu.be/oXXXMT814go?si=Bt65uwl5--rQrGay One of my “bucket list” songs for the year. Finally got it down good enough to record. Clocking in at over 8 minutes, this one was a blast to learn but the middle section was a B to get down!! Anyway, have a great day and enjoy! As always, thanks for the support :oncoming_fist::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Great cover brother!

@JohnF and @groaner hoping you boys can join a band or play with other people in 2026 because you’re there already

Thank you so much, Barney. I did need to hear that. I’ve been in a bit of a slump with my playing, and yes. I agree, Even if not a band, a regular group to play with would be great.

I just don’t have the chops to belt out a tune I’ve not practiced. That’s what I need to practice.

Finally recorded myself in order to enter the Moises Jam Sessions competition

After spending countless sessions exploring different basslines, the final “improv” take is the one I decided to publish.

Jam to Dance

Now I feel I can start to publish more covers, while fine tuning my recording and mixing set up.

I’m this close to recording this one myself. And yeah, the bit behind the solo in the bridge is tricky, though I see you’re playing it a little differently than I do.

And how often when working on this did you start daydreaming and missing the chord change for “Hello darkness…”?

It is a tricky part for sure. I’d be curious to see how you’re playing it once you post it. I’ll keep a watch out for sure :+1: dope song though. Blast to play!

Thanks, Barney…I appreciate the encouragement! Definitely a goal for 2026. I was on Craig’s List this week checking out the listings and saw a couple that were looking for a bassist in genres I’d be interested in. I am going to put my own listing out there also to see if anyone contacts me. I’d really like to start playing with other people even if it is a casual jam session. We shall see.
