I’ll do some catching up later - we’re tidying the house for Christmas visitors!! In the meantime here’s a video of my wife’s dog and a mate’s dog!

John McCrea - I wanna be your dog (The Stooges / Iggy Pop)

Such a cool version of this song by Iggy Pop and the Stooges, from the film, Cruella!

I elected not to video myself playing - I assure you that I am - my daughter generated the video form photos of our dog, and a friend’s.

I’m playing the Squier CV 50s p-bass with loads of distortion. At the end of the video, I added a short section of music with no bass, so you can hear the difference. Oh, there’s also a surprise appearance toward the end too!

Enjoy!

Wilson Pickett - In The Midnight Hour

This song is simply sublime, In The Midnight Hour was written by Wilson Pickett and Steve Cropper, who died at 84, earlier this month. The song was recorded and released in 1965. The original bass line was played by the legendary Donald “Duck” Dunn.

I’m playing the Squier CV 50s p-bass and actually recorded and blended three bass tracks to get the tone I was after.

Hi all!

Not a cover, but an original.

One of my all-time favorites; and as an aspiring Bassist, the intro is one of the best Bass Intro/Solos ever.

Nice job! Fantastic mix and tone - please add to the appropriate 50 song thread as well, you just knocked off another one!

Nice to see you around these parts @JDDaniel !! and playing too!

good job, sounds a bit like your gain is a whisker too high, as your bass is sounding just a tab distorted - but I am assuming not on purpose.

Overall good playing, couple of timing blips, but I am just happy to see you playing!!!

Thank you, @John_E! I didn’t realise it’s a song from the 50…! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Holy crap, man. That was amazing! I looked at the tabs for that one a few weeks ago, and by the time the song had played for 30 seconds I had played about 10 seconds worth of it.

I’ve yet to find a Maiden song to even attempt

Thanks @John_E

Not sure on the sound issue stock MIM P-Bass into a 2nd hand Rumble 25 most likely my poor recording technique, i.e., ambient noises due to external sound bar of the original recording and iPhone used for recording. Still not using either the techniques you and @PamPurrs (RIP!!) or @Lanny taught us

Knew the timing was off. I am just not playing enough. I’ve all but stopped playing (even sold some gear - and two basses - my Mike Dirnt P & the Mustang) for the better part of the last 1.5-2 years.

I really want to / need to get back in the saddle seriously. My church needs bass players on the worship team. Heck, I’ve even been considering doing Beg to BA again to rebuild all the skills I’ve lost. Bass playing is definitely a “use it or lose it” situation, especially when it comes to more than just noodling.
