Post your covers! (2025)

Last one

This might the only song that I’ve done with a complete lack of any kind of effects. I even turned off my compressor for this one.

Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues

I’m going to try and record 1 or 2 of the ones I’m working on for fun tomorrow as a palette cleanser before I move on to the next batch.

@faydout Nice work on all three, the BB worked nicely for all of them!

Only feedback I have is for Folsom Prison Blues, which could have been a bit more legato. Otherwise they were all great.

Thank you, yep it did. I wanted to put it through it’s paces. All three songs required some knob twisting to get the sounds right.

Should it? I intentionally played it more staccato to give it that old timey country sound.

Bad Company. Rock and Roll Fantasy Bass Cover. Playing along with a drum cover I found on YouTube.

It should not be fully legato, just a little more IMO. The important part is your timing seemed spot on

Great job! Fun tune!

Nicely done on this one… I’m personally not a fan of this song… (why I aint doing it yet lol ) You did a great job of it!

The staccato thing mentioned in other comments doesn’t bug me much … that’s more an issue of style (in my opinion)… This song tho i am going to deal with later because it strays from natural 440 tuning.

So how I am going to attack this one is to get the first note dialed in… in tune to the recording… then tune the rest of the bass to that string. Then everything will be in tune to the song. The old days of analog recording sucked… some machines recorded faster… some slower… LOL

I found a bunch of the older tunes on the list are like this… fun times. :stuck_out_tongue:

Great job on it though! ( this wasn’t me bashing your cover btw … Loved it! )

Recently discovered Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt Flatwound strings also. Always played Roundwounds but loving these strings!

I’ve never tried flats … I have always been on rounds… I used to play Dean Markley Blue Steels … and they don’t exist anymore… grrrr.

I always hated Flatwounds. These are different though. Kind of a cross between the two.

I may give them a try  Cheers!

Bad Moon Rising - I am looking forward to doing this song myself, it’s such a great song.
Crazy - I’m not really familiar with this one, but I guess I will be when I get to it.
Johnny Cash - really not my thing at all, If this is in the 50 song challenge I’ll probably skip it
Great playing on all though @faydout

Great cover, well done
I recently watched a comparison which featured Ernie Ball cobalts (rounds), and I am sold. Really great sounding strings

50 Songs Challenge: Song 7 - House Of The Rising Sun, The Animals
This is my first deliberate playing of a song from the 50 songs challenge.
I had previously practised it though.
I intend covering the others in order, but this one was pretty much done, so starting at number 7!
