This is the first time I have heard this Duran Duran track … that JT bass line is BONKERS … I would have a look at the tabs … but I just woke up and don’t want a headache this early lol! Killer job on this @sunDOG ! Sounded amazing!
( still waiting for a return of the cat lol )
Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, thought I’d learn some more romantic/love songs like I did last February. This one was pretty simple one but that’s okay because this is one of my favorites on the Diamond Eyes album. Gonna just take it easy for a while to fit the weather and season.
Deftones - Beauty School
your tone is FILTHY! ( in the best way ) Great job @BumbleJazz
Nicely done BumbleJazz!
Thanks!
Actually once you crack the shuffle, it’s not too bad
Thanks @Lanny ! It’s not so bad once you get the feel but I’m amazed that Phil Lynott could play and sing at the same time…
Whoa great work man - that would be a heck of an opener
Spot on work there @BumbleJazz - nothing says romance bass like a Dingwall
Note to self - check out the Deftones…
Deftones! Awesome
They’re my favorite band! I really like Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan the best
Ok… this has nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. I was just wondering if this would sound good on my Spector and I’m inadvertently a little under halfway done learning this album and I think the bass line sounds really good lol
Bassface included!
That is a hella cool bass line
Great job on it!
I first produced my pistol…
Then produced my rapier…
I said “Stand, and deliver”…
Or the Devil, he may take ya…
This was an accidental song… I saw a play-along on Youtube… and figured what the hell? Threw a couple hours at it… Dropped that E to a D… and had some fun.
Whiskey In the Jar - Metallica
@Buzzin_Canada-John
Those were two great covers John! Well played!
@BumbleJazz
The Spector sounds great! What is the signal chain that you used?
@sunDOG I think you can quite confidently call yourself a bassist already! Great job on the the obscure Duran Duran song, as I said on YouTube, it isn’t one I’ve heard before.
@Ed Fantastic job, great song , great energy. It really was excellent.
@BumbleJazz You absolutely nailed both of those. Like others, I feel the desire to listen to Deftones now!
@Buzzin_Canada-John ZZ Top-Tush Makes me want to learn some ZZ Top. I love Blues/rock.
Whisky In The Jar, well played for a rush job John
The Metallica version makes me laugh, for some reason I think Hetfield sounds a bit Cornish on it. It doesn’t make it any better though
ZZ Top is hella fun to play… and they got LOTS of good stuff from a LOOOOONG career
The Metallica version ( for me at least ) is far superior to a) the Thin Lizzy cover and b) the original … I loved the heavy treatment they gave to the song, and actually I found James to be a perfect fit for the tune. ( again, just me… everyone has different takes ) As for the rush thing… LOL … I wasn’t even going to do the tune, until I saw the playalong on YT… LOL!
I’ll get it all ironed out… it is a fun tune to play
Thanks for the input!
I did have Eliminator and Afterburner a long time ago, like many other albums, they vanished. I also remember being introduced to their early stuff, and that was proper blues, it was great.
Funny thing… That was ZZ Top’s ‘Black Album’ era (referring to Metallica’s commercialization) … That was when all the gimicks came in, and it was all about image… You are 100% right… the early stuff was the good stuff.
Don’t get me wrong… I liked the MTV stuff… that was great too… but it wasn’t blues
