:rofl::+1::+1:. When I play songs like this I usually start out by saying something like “If this one don’t get yer toes a tapp’n and your heart a pump’n, then YOU BE DEAD!!”….:rofl:. As for all the video stuff, just a green screen with all mixing done in iMovie on my iMac…

That’s ok, nobody’s perfect.

A lot of folks don’t…. But, it’s a genre that isn’t bass heavy or in most cases bass driven. Having played in church worship groups for a ton of years, I learned that only three instruments made up church music - piano (or organ/keyboard), acoustic guitar, and vocals…. Even today’s bass players in many church’s mainly only hit root notes of songs since it’s still the keyboardist (or synth) that controls the lower end most of the time. For me, putting together a true bass line to these songs is challenging in and of itself…. Really a great way to build and hone bass line creativity. Damn - here I go off preach’n again…. Apologies….

Fun video cover Andrea… That old Penguins tune brings me back to high school sock-hops in the 60’s. Almost every high school rock band at the time had that “Belly Rubber” on a set list or two…:smile:.

My 2 fears of playing for our worship team:
-Missing notes and ruining everyone’s worship

  • Playing too good and turning it into a dancehall

I told them maybe in March I could sit for a practice. I’m still learning songs for my cover band and I’m overwhelmed.

My dad played piano for 30yrs for the church (not this one) and warns me about it. My things is in my band we play loud but worship music if I miss some notes it’s a lot more noticeable.

Nice one, John! I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy, but appreciate that song. Yes, agree that complicated doesn’t mean “better” and that a simple song can take the air out of your lungs.

Really enjoy these covers where you add the bass! Really well played. And that video editing is awesome. Gotta figure out how you did that (I at least want to be able to play in front of an album cover or photo without the green screen hassle). Well done!

This takes me back to 7th or 8th grade when that was THE slow dance song when all the boys have their backs against the gymnasium wall and the girls are sauntering around waiting to be asked to dance. Well played and really nice job with the movie scenes added in!

Thanks @sunDOG, @AndreaJayne and @JerryP for listening to my Mazzy Star cover and giving feedback!

Nice @sunDOG . I don’t think anything will beat the original for me, but still you did a great job with your bassline  Served the version really well.
