Post your covers! (2025)

Been away for quite a while! It’s been an insanely busy few months. We signed a 15 year lease on a new restaurant space and have been working like crazy trying to get it ready for the upcoming baseball season!

I haven’t had much time to play recently, but I’ve managed to learn a few songs during the precious time I can find to sit with my bass. Had to choose some easier songs to learn since I just don’t have the time for anything too complex. As I went to record these for my Youtube I accidentally broke my tripod, so it’s audio only today :man_facepalming: No chance I’ll make it through all the covers I’ve missed but I see we’ve been busy!

First up is actually three songs from the same album that are all in sequence, so it was nice to be able to play through all of them at once. This album has been growing on me the more I listen to it. I was going to record these all separately but I decided to just lump them all together.

Modest Mouse - Float On, Ocean Breathes Salty & Bury Me With it

This one was super fun to learn and play - I love the syncopated bits, just sounds so cool. Really interesting band as well, hopefully I’ll get to see them live some day.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland

Learned this one yesterday, took me a little while to learn the bridge/outro and I couldn’t find good tabs anywhere so I tabbed it myself. Pretty sure these are spot on.

Solid @sunDOG - who can resist a cheeky slide here and there?!

@Ant really nice - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, what a name :ok_hand: Rhythmically interesting, I enjoyed that :sunglasses:

Absolutely. We are flawed, I am flawed, but through that imperfection, we / I can search for fulfilment, and as you say, sometimes that flow state…and sometimes, just sometimes get trough a song without stuffing it up

My thoughts exactly, @saroohoo!

I’m not so much flawed, as I am a factory reject.

I’ve just looked at your profile, @Vader. You like cats and Oxford commas, I think you’re going to be ok!

In addition to having a fantastic name King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard rocks so hard that I’m a huge fan even though psychedelic rock isn’t really my thing.

They’re hit or miss for me, the hits are big hits but the misses are complete misses! Nonagon Infinity & Polygondwanaland are two awesome albums though I love them both. They release tons of music and explore lots of genres and styles, super interesting group

Thanks, John! Nothing like a good ole mid-life crisis song about impermanence to end the week with… :relieved:

Still working at getting more familiar with the 5 string…. My bass cover of Craig Morgan’s How You Make A Man.

This song was way more fun to learn than I had anticipated and I really enjoyed taking a step away from the genres I usually play. It’s not terribly complicated but definitely tried my patience today. This may be a shock to some, but I had never heard this song until last night :eyes:

This is a request from my wife, and since she actually has to work today it’s only fitting. I also had to make my own tabs which are…well, the notes are there but you have to understand the rhythm or they make no sense in certain parts.

Dolly Parton - 9 to 5
