Thank you! I’ve wanted to do this one for a long time. Doing an almost seven minute song over and over again was difficult. And then mixing it was crazy. I’m glad you like it.
Thought I’d try an REO tune that hasn’t been done to death already.
REO Speedwagon - Keep Pushin’ (1976) bass cover
That was great Justin! Looks like a lot of fun to play!
Thanks Jerry. Yeah, it’s a fun one for sure!
great cover as always. sounds fun too
nice job !
Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - Trouble
From the album Through the Devil Softly.
Finally got this one. I started this last summer but it was beyond me at the time. It’s one of the songs that made me want to be a bass player.
My first Hooky cover!
New Order - In a Lonely Place
That could always be a mistake, @JohnF Actually, this song fades. I’m never quite sure what to do in that situation, so I just keep playing
I agree, @Buzzin_Canada-John! It’s actually why I chose this song and not Rick Lobster…gosh, I hated that song!
Thank you, @Lanny!
Thank you @AndreaJayne!
Thank you, @saroohoo!
Fantastic, nailed the tone, sounds great.
That was smoooooooth … could listen to that all day Awesome!
Not familiar with the song… but wow the tone you got going on there… that sounded badass! Great job!
What a great cover! So chill when you play… and always locked into the groove Awesome job @JustinAndSheba
Nice one Justin, that song has a good happy 80’s vibe to it.
@JohnF Great cover John, I’ll be listening to more of them on YT I think!
@faydout Well played, good to hear a bit of New Order
Thanks Paul!
Thank you John!
Cheers, Andrea…thanks
Thanks, John! The last two minutes of that song are therapeutic to me…like some sort of ascension.
Happy to hear you liked that song, Andrea! That is Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star and Colm Ó Cíosóig from My Bloody Valentine coming together to make some beautiful music. They made 3 albums (2001, 2009 and 2013) and all three are unique and well worth a listen.
Thank you for the help. I even managed to get some of that breakup on the low end that I was trying for. My 1 regret is that I wish I had a pedalboard on the floor for that so that I could switch off the chorus when the solo kicks in. I don’t like the way it sounded with the modulation.
Thank you. This was one of New Order’s first songs / Joy Division’s last songs (along with ICB and Ceremony, which might be the best song ever written). When Ian Curtis committed suicide, the band reformed as New Order and this was one that they were working on when he passed. There is a live version out there on youtube with Ian singing it at their last live show. That’s why the vocals for this sound very… Joy Division-y.
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley bass cover
But maybe I’m crazy
Maybe you’re crazy
Maybe we’re crazy by
Probably
I wanted the smoothness of the fretless and gave in to the need to transition between the G and the Cm with cheeky slides.
Sire V7 fretless into the Ampero, then on into GarageBand.
Opening AI art by Mr Cheswell.
Definitely sounded smooth and the slide transitions were a fun touch Really well done! Digging the opening art and the glowing white background. And dedicated to us flawed human beings just trying to find flow state playing bass!
