Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax

The last of the canal recordings, this time the wonderful Relax, by Frankie Goes To Hollywood! Oh, the delicious shock that this song generated when it was released!!

For me, this cover was all about getting a synth-type tone (Octaver setting in the Ampero) and ensuring an evenness of playing throughout, alternately muting the note on the “&”.

Steinberger XT-2 bass into the Hotone Ampero, then on into GarageBand.

Stupid Girl - Garbage
Happy 1st Birthday to my ‪@Lindoguitars‬ PDB Purple Dove P bass! 16 April 2024 was an exciting day, my first bass guitar. As you can see from my videos, it gets plenty of use, and will continue to do so!
I signed up for the B2B course on 19 April 2024, and found the forum. Thanks for all the support and encouragement, it has meant more than you can know!

Guilty - Classic Nouveaux
Continuing ‘Lindo Love’ Week to celebrate my One year anniversary of learning to play bass, here is a song I hadn’t heard of until I found it on the same album as Enola Gay. It’s a great tune, so I had to cover it.
I looked for a tab, or notation, but couldn’t find anything, so I tried out the Songsterr AI thing. It was so bad, there were maybe 2 bars of the chorus that were accurate!
So, after sulking for two days, I sat myself down on the sofa, synth on lap, notepad and pen to hand, and I listened to the song part by part, playing notes until i was happy with the result. Then I converted that into a tab.
I’m really proud of myself, and what better way to celebrate a year of learning than by writing my own tab for the first time
edit: and I have noticed that I appear to be miming the notes I’m playing!

Thanks Rob. I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve heard from them, but never bought any albums. I have now bought the Anthology, and have listened to some of the new stuff on YouTube, it’s very good.
And I am learning another one, so more is on the way!

I’ve made it to module 9 so far. Learned the main riff for a few songs, but All Star by Smash Mouth is the first I’ve learned the remaining parts. I know but I like it.
