I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while but had to get the tone right. I know I either post a lot of heavy stuff or do a complete 180 and post some laid back stuff but if I could make music I’d like to do stuff like this. I LOVE keys and/or strings in Metal and Metal adjacent genres. Definitely one of the prettiest Metal songs I’ve ever heard.
Badass dude. I’m slow rolling Telomeres. I need to have it down to play with my daughter when she’s in town in June. Finding that tone with the B is a pain. Tends to get muddy sounding but you got it just about right.
Feeling sick today but couldn’t stay away from the bass. Here is a cover of, “Can I Call You Rose?” by Thee Sacred Souls. Easy to play and plenty of fun. I tried to get the right tone with my P bass and a foam mute by the bridge, which is what I see Sal Samano ( the bassist) using when he plays live.
Awesome! Figuring out songs by ear is worth the effort, even if its a slow process at first. Best way to train your ear imo and freeing to be able to play deeper cuts and whatever you feel like.
Nice first cover, and great job keeping time! I remember dreading this song when I was going through the 50 song challenge, but its actually a lot of fun to play. Cool bass too, I don’t see too many people playing the P style Sires, what model is that?
I was so locked into the groove here I missed the ending, so I just went with it and now it has a bass outro. Can’t go wrong with drop D and a little overdrive.
@dlamson13 I can’t figure out how to reply with quotes.
This was a Sire P5, passive. I’ve upgraded the bridge to an Albridge for Sire and although not needed, II replaced the pots, capacitor and output jack with my preferred parts. CTS, orange drop, and pure tone jack. La Bella TB Flats 105-45.
Nice, thanks for the info, I like the sound and look a lot. I was wondering if it was passive. The only thing I don’t like about Sires are the complex (at least for my simple mind) active controls, it’s just not for me.
The option to quote appears when you highlight the text you want.
Swipe the part of the post that you want to reply to (holding down the left mouse button), then click on “Reply”. That’s what I did to make this reply with a quote.
EDIT: @dlamson13 beat me to it. You can click on “Quote” in the popup after highlighting, or just click on the “Reply” button.
As I wrote on your YT channel, this was an awesome cover! Great song choice with a sick bass line. Just some standout Jason Isbell southern rock. Really well played!
