A quick intermission between Garbage covers to grab an ice-cream, and knock out a quick cover of a Muse cover of an Andy William’s cover of Frankie Valli’s classic! Can’t Take My Eyes Off You - Muse
Nice one, Duncan! The instrumental solo in that song is pretty wild. Funky background and filter! Dug it (especially the lone bass at the end)!
Well done, Andrea! As I wrote on your YT channel, I never heard this Muse cover and you just know listening to the mellow verse that Muse is going to do something Muse-y to the chorus and it did not disappoint!
Hey, everyone! I had about 30 minutes of time to myself to record a cover so I decided to give “Stinkfist” by Tool a go. I love Justin Chancellor’s tone, which I tried to replicate a bit with my Sansamp. There’s a couple mistakes and I suck with a pick but this was a fun one!
To show I don’t always cover old songs, today I present Monster by Skillet - what the kids were listing to in 2009!
TBH It’s not really my jam but I thought I would try some Nu metal and I’ve got to admit it was a bit of a laugh, although I’m not about to start frosting my hair and getting eyebrow piercings .
Not owning a 5 string, I had to tune down a fair bit (C G C F ?) but the tone was pretty good. Brought mr back to trying to play old Obituary covers!
The transcription demanded the most of the song be played on the first string, which meant I was up and down that neck like an … uppy-downy thing. This was a pain, and I don’t know why people want to play like this.
Tool is one of those bands I’ve never listened to, except for the occasional bass cover. Great job on the cover though
@Ed Sometimes songs that go up and down one string can be quite fun to play, but I prefer to cross strings myself mostly too. I really enjoyed that song Ed, top choice
Thanks @AndreaJayne@JerryP ! A friend recommended the song and I thought I’d check it out on YT - amazingly it’s got something like 400 million views and I’d never hear of it. I thought - am i becoming … old? Anyway, good fun to play
I’m not sure why but my lowest string (1st?) sounds like a monster (appropriately for the song) but the next one up mewls like an infant. Maybe it’s something with the EQ?
Nice deep tone you’re getting there, Beau! I don’t listen to this type of music, but that bridge part starting at the two-minute mark was pretty cool.
I have to admit that I am not one of the 400 million people that know this song. Yeah, the tone worked out well with your tuning…sounded nice. The slide with the “feel like a monster” lip-syncing was definitely entertaining. Well played!
I’ve started playing with the backgrounds to the videos I’m never really sure what to do with song fadeouts, you can either fad out yourself, or just keep on playin’
