Its kinda like captain Beefheart with a tad bit more swearing and more brown-ish. They made Ocean Man, the song that was playing at the end of the SpongeBob movie(the good one from the 2000s). Not to mention that they were the prime inspiration for the show in the first place.

Excellent. I wish that I could celebrate today. Unfortunately I’m a fed, so even though it’s legal in Colorado I have to abide by federal rules and it isn’t worth losing my pension over.

Thanks, Lush is one of the earlier shoegaze bands on the scene. They started out on 4AD as a post-punk band in the mid - late 80s and their sound evolved over a couple of records into stuff like this song. If you listen to their first album, you can hear a lot more of the post-punk in their sound (it’s still really good).
My tone on that one was just going through a modded (super mid heavy) SVT patch on my Helix.
This one was a little more fun tone wise. I started with the default GK 800 patch, scooped just a bit to bring out the low end a bit and added the lightest touch of chorus that I could get away with just to help it sound fuller. It was far from a perfect take, I heard a few muting flubs and there were a few measures where I hit the one about a 1/4 beat late.

This will be a larger post than usual! I played a gig with the cover band on Saturday that went pretty well! There were mistakes and we struggled with our fussy board/mixing throughout but it felt good and the crowd was supportive.

MBV kinda is the GOAT imo. Loveless is just at a different level than anything else the genre has put out. After them though, bands like Lush, Slowdive, and Ride would be my A tier bands with stuff like DIIV, Bowery Electric, Drop Nineteens, Pale Saints, Stargazer Lillies, Lsd and the search for god, and Ringo Deathstarr coming after that.
Edit: I’m not going to put JAMC and Cocteau Twins in a list with shoegaze bands. They’re both before all of that.

I had a lot of life changes over the past 1 & 1/2 years since my last video behind me. But the Bass has always accompanied me. During those times, I was working a lot on becoming better and better at Bass playing, as well as at filming.

Neither of them are shoegaze, agree. Actually I like them both more than shoegaze 
MBV was (and is) great and yes Loveless was a perfect album.
What Lush had, and Kevin Shields didn’t at the time, was versatility. Lush really explored a lot of stuff and even did straight alt-rock well. One of my favorite bands of that era.
That’s interesting and I’m kinda sorry to hear it - I didn’t have much of a problem hearing it, and per Logic my “bass sum” bus was like -14db RMS with peaks at -6db, which if I’m understanding correctly is pretty appropriately balanced and potentially even on the hot side. I’ll be interested to hear if others have a similar experience.

I want you to know, that I’m not saying that to knock your video at all. And others have a different opinion than I do on the subject of bass volume in a cover. But I want to clearly hear your bass playing, that’s what we’re here for after all. It might be mixed exactly like the real song, but shine a spotlight on what you’re playing, I say. Anyway, all the best!

Bad Bunny - NUEVAYoL
I’ve been a big fan of Bad Bunny since I listened to his album from last year. I’d never imagined myself being a fan of reggaeton but it’s a fantastic album. It’s so interesting how it blends modern Latin electronic music with traditional Puerto Rican (and other Caribbean) styles like Salsa and Plena. If it’s not something you’d usually listen to, I really recommend giving it a chance.
This is the first track on the album and outside of the first 15 seconds, it doesn’t actually have any bass guitar. So I removed the synth bass and found a tone that I thought did a decent job of mimicing it. There’s also some very raw distorted synth in the final part so that was fun to try and recreate.
