Thank you, @Andrea_FI! Wait ‘til you see tomorrow’s bass ![]()
Another from our gig yesterday. This is the fourth time I’ve posted a cover of this song on this forum.
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
@Paul_9207 Great job by you and O’Donnell_9207 (had to look that one up- don’t know any Cure songs)
Last one for today. This was our last song too, everything just sounds better on this one. Fun song to end on.
Matchbox 20 - Let’s See How Far We’ve Come
Couple of fun ones here. I’ve been playing a couple of Plague Vendor songs intending on picking one to record. I couldn’t decide so I’m just going to do them both. They’re both short, sweet, and simple but they’re fun. Plague Vendor is an awesome band live, highly recommend if you happen to notice that they’re coming to town.
I did this one on my BBPH with a bit of distortion through an SVT patch.
Plague Vendor - Night Sweats
Part II of Plague Vendor night. Here’s a great example of a rocking 2 note bassline. Again, I did it on my BBPH but with no distortion this time.
Plague Vendor - Saturday Night Shakes
No Doubt - Just A Girl
An epic song for an epic bass! Here, I am debuting the Blackstar Carry-On bass. A tiny bass with a big heart and a massive sound!! I bought the bass on Facebook Marketplace for £80, a price I simply couldn’t say no too!
What d’ya think??
Blackstar Carry-On bass - BOSS ME-90B - Focusrite Scarlett Solo - GarageBand
Fantastic! Our band just added this one. What effect are you using? I just have a chorus to start, but sounds like a flanger or something. Sounds great.
Wow! It sounds awesome considering the size, and might be a perfect travelling bass! Very cool
And cheap too!
Well played!
@Paul_9207 I love it! Must have been an awesome gig! Well played!
Very nice as well!
@faydout I didn’t know this band. Very nice!
@faydout Simple but nice bassline!
It’s just a bit too big to get into a ‘normal’ sized suitcase, without removing the neck. I might but a gig bag for it and chance taking it into a plane as hand baggage…
It sounds great and is surprisingly fun to play, although youy find your fingers want to fall over themselves on the fretboard.
It looks so small, I imagined it would fit inside a suitcase. Is it hard/annoying to remove the neck and put it back again?
It probably might take some getting used to. I noticed I prefer to play my 34” Squier than my short-scale Longhorn. A normal sized bass is more comfortable to play sitting down. The higher frets on the smaller bass are too close together.
Taking the neck off is easy - 4 screws. That said, I’m away this week and have the Hofner shortie with me as it was already disassembled and in the suitcase ![]()
Great cover! That’s a big sound coming from such a tiny bass!
This one was a request from the wife…
Pearl Jam - Last Kiss (Bass cover)
It’s a kinda grim song. At least the little slides were fun. ![]()
Thank you John, I really enjoyed this one. You’ll see more kitchen views, as this and my other rental are open plan. I guess I could mix it up by putting the camera at the other end of the room ![]()
Thank you ![]()
Thank you!
Thanks Jerry! Hopefully sooner than later. We all get along pretty well.
Thanks John! This was definitely more fun that playing with myself ![]()
Thank you! and yes, he’s a great singer and versatile too!
Thank you again!
Thank you Booker! That made me laugh! One of these days I will make it to the socal bass buzz meetup and shake your hand, I really appreciate all your kind words and support over the years.
Thank you! I’m using the Boss chorus and flanger together.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun and the kids were a great audience.
Here’s a couple more from yesterday. both featuring my wife on backup vocals! I find that playing bass is even more fun if you can get your spouse involved.
