Same Old Situation - Mötley Crüe
One of my all time favourite covers. Great song, and so much fun to learn and play ![]()
So after many years of hoping and dreaming I finally played a live show with a real band in front of actual people!
It was at our small high school, last day of school festival kind of thing. The singer and lead guitar player both work at the school. Keyboard player for this song is the singer’s son. I was so excited that I was able to talk my wife into doing backup vocals on this song, she played keyboard on another song we did! And the drummer is my wife’s brother.
It was a lot of fun and the kids were a great crowd.
The Killers - All These Things That I’ve Done
How cool! Sounds great - you guys rock! ![]()
Nice track, nice bass, nice cover! ![]()
We had some feedback issues throughout most of the show. Good learning experience.
Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
Sounds great! Never point out your mistakes or technical issues though. Lol No one cares. People just love hearing live music. On to your next show. Keep the singer. They are hard to find! Like his voice.
Drums and bass are solid. Right on time. You guys carried the song… This is why you put the work in!
You all sounded great, Paul! When’s the next show?
Very cool cover, and this was very interesting! I don’t know Moises (have never used it yet, just read about it from the forum). Could you tell a little more? How does this work? Do you mean you could see this screen from Moises and you played along, while recording? Or do you mean Moises showed this from your playing, I mean, did Moises created this visuals based on what you were playing?
This looks like a great tool for playing with other people! Besides everything else it can do.
I’m trying to catch up with all I’ve missed!
@Professor That was a great cover! And it is so awesome that you can collab with your son this way!
@faydout Great cover! Sounds like a nice song to play!
@Professor Cool cover, and nice background!
@Professor Very nice!
@DirkTungsten Well played! ![]()
@faydout Cool song! I like it, and looks like it might be fun to play.
@JohnF Well played!
@Vader Great tone! What a nice bassline. The song really comes alive once the bass starts.
The above is the actual screen I see on my iPhone. It scrolls, right to left, per my video, as the song plays.
Basically, you upload an MP3 of the song, which it then splits into the stems - you tell it which stems you want. Usually, I isolate the bass and leave everything else as a single track. This way, I can a) listen to the bass line while I’m learning, then b) remove it entirely. For my covers, I download the track that excludes the bass, the upload it into GarageBand and I’m away…
The fact that it tells you the chord is fantastic, this feature really helps when first learning a song and trying to work out what’s going on!
@Professor Wow! You have been busy, so many great covers! I had forgotten how much fun this song is. I must add it to my list of songs to try someday. Well played! And cool picture!
@THRILLHO Good job with this song! It doesn’t sound easy to play.
@faydout Great cover! I love this song.
@Mktony32 Nice cover!
@sunDOG Very cool cover, and such an awesome bass!
@DirkTungsten Such a great song! Nice tone! The eyeliner would have been cool, maybe next time!
@CrayWolf
Funny song, but it has a surprisingly fun bassline. Well done!
@basspersoniglol Well done! It is a nice bassline!
@BassyBunch That’s a classic! Not an easy song to play, well done!
@Mktony32 Nice cover! It is a nice 12 bar blues. I have practiced the version by Jon Lord, and the tab I have is a little different. I don’t know if it is better or just different, but for me it is easier to play, since I only need to move my hand when the root note changes. (D on the 5th fret of the A string, F on the 3rd fret of D string and G on the 5th fret of the D string, for the first four bars. Then on the 5th and 6th bars it was G on the 3rd of the E string, A# on the 1st and C on the 3rd of the A string. The ninth bar had A on the 5th of the E string, and on the A string the C and D).
@justarookie Happy 3 year anniversary! Well played!
It sounds awesome! This could really be very useful. I must try it out. Thanks!
How the heck did you get a Beatles song up on YouTube?!?
Always a fan of folks doing Beatles stuff.
I hear your timing off quite a bit thoughout. Seems to get better the farther on in the song you get. Macca lines look easy, but are a bit tougher than most think as they have to nail the timing otherwise stick out very readily.
Not only was that fun to watch and listen to, the TONE!!! WOW
overall fantastic! Great tone!
#1 kitchen bass covers prize
Awesome! You look (and sound like) you play with a band all the time (vs. playing with yourself, and yourself, and yourself, lol).
Fantastic job!
Thanks! I guess I have decades of bottled up music that I want to play!
I’m 1 year and 4 months out from finishing B2B and between the course itself, a book series after B2B and recording/posting covers, I finally fell comfortable playing with others. Which fuels the fire to learn and post more songs.
I’m not perfect, but I can keep the train moving down the track. lol
I was surprised it was allowed up as well!
The timing was weird. It sounded good when I was playing it, and when I edited it it wouldn’t line up! When I adjusted to line uyp one part the other part would go out of siync.
I plan on redoing it at some point. It does sound much better live.
ah! that makes more sense, as you are generally spot on with timings.
