Feels fine really… I didn’t experience any of the issues that others talked about online like a “baseball bat” neck or sharp fret ends. It just feels like a P bass.

This reminds me of my girlfriend at school, well school and the first two years at university. She was an artist - studied fine art. She was a massive Bowie and Cure fan (we saw them both in concert). She walked around in men’s pajamas, old men’s shirts that she had painted with fabric paint and self-embroidered trousers. When we saw The Cure, I recall Robert Smith coming on stage, dressed entirely in black, but wearing bright orange “Garfield’ slippers!

Was feeling really low due to it being the one-year anniversary of my Mum passing. So played this . Really love the simplicity of the song. Although not 100% happy with the tone.

Nice one, Dirk! I have never heard that song before…the last 30 seconds are pretty cool.
Such a beautiful song. Nice job! Enjoyed listening to it. I think there were a couple notes that were off in the chorus when she sings “right words at the right time” that may be worth looking into adjusting.

Emmylou Harris - Till I Gain Control Again
From the 1975 album Elite Hotel. Written by Rodney Crowell. This is part of a personal project of recording at least one bass cover from each of Emmylou Harris’s 22 solo studio albums. A little over halfway there. I’ve always loved her catalog, and it’s been a fun way to explore different styles of bass playing, from traditional country and folk to roots rock and Americana.

Welcome and congrats on recording your first cover! Nicely played, your notes are clear and well articulated. Timing is a little off in some places, but that’s really normal when you’re starting out and common with a song like this.
I find it helps to internally count the “and” between each note, it could be by bobbing your head or tapping your foot twice as fast as you’re doing. (1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and etc.) This helps set you up for the next note as the bassline in this song kinda plods along so it’s easy to mess up your timing.
I don’t know if it was intentional, but this is song #2 in the 50 songs challenge. So you could go and post your cover there and then start working through some of the others. It’s a great list of songs to work through: 50 First Songs 100 Week Challenge
