The Tyler is just a nice package, both the filters and the splitter. I really love the concept.
John’s Boss LS-2 is a cool pedal too though. I seriously considered a LS-2 for my board when I had one.

I’d prefer something that just had the two filters. I don’t need or want the other EQ things, I have them all over the place.
So… the Tyler then
Nah. Still too many other things.
Two knobs. H and L pass filters only.
The Broughton Low + High Pass Filter from Broughton Audio seems to be highly regarded on talkbass.com.
Their Josh Wah envelope filter is supposed to be pretty great also.
You always find the coolest stuff. And they have a simple 3 band fully parametric EQ with knobs. I’ve been looking for something like that for years. The JHS color box 2 was pretty close, but it’s HPF is too high for bass.
It’s a good little unit, but not a pedal, more of a headphone amp.
so the harp girl on youtube (emily hopkins, highly entertaining) just demo’d the new version of chasebliss’ generation loss tape echo pedal. and it sounds amazing. and a quick youtube dive found a bass demo on the original pedal and man-oh-man does this sound incredible. too bad it’s a zillion and a half dollars. bass at 2:24:
Oh man, that fuzzy, old record/recording sound with static is exactly what I am looking for.
dammit
soooo expensive
There’s, like, many plugins.
One random example:
Search on plugin sites for terms like “retro” and “lofi”.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Ableton came with a stock plugin for this, or maybe some lofi sample packs to add parallel “warmth” tracks to any recording.
alright mr smartypantz, you can fuck right off with your “i can re-create your $400 pedal sound with a $15 plug in”
wait… maybe you can…
damn you howard…
damn you
I would have been a rich man if I had listened to Howard at the start of my bass journey
ahh screw that guy
If it’s any consolation I took the expensive route too!
Nope nope nope not for me.
I like making the sound, not recording it and then shaping it (except compressor and reverb).
Once again you and I bear the heavy burden of keeping the universe in balance @howard.
And yes, @itsratso - I pre-ordered one from the next batch. No way am I paying double + on the used market (but will gladly sell it like that one day).
niiiicceee
hey @howard does your fancy plugin have dipswitches? why, no i don’t think it does, does it.
dipswitches
So, you know you can use them live (in real time), just like pedals, right?
