It’s much easier (and a necessity, cause f#cking cars) here in Hamburg to keep the eyes on the road, unlike in Holland…
Fun fact: I met one of my girlfriends at a traffic light. Tried to balance on my bike, looking cool, fell of my bike (of course), she laughed, we got to talk … the rest is history.
Wouldn’t have happened if we were in cars…

It’s maybe not the prevailing view, but I thought the ‘68 with the 327 handled better on road tracks. The 396 that I drove preferred straight tracks. My biggest problem with the 396 was that I could burn through a set a rear tires in one night driving the circuit.
Sold this to get the Mustang I revently sold. Had many muscle cars growing up but this was my favorite.

If it had the 390, I hope it wasn’t from the year(s) where you had to pull the engine to get to the 8th spark plug.

My second wife (of 3) had a ‘66 Mustang convertible in high school. She said it was her favorite car ever, especially since the A/C ducting had a large, removable plate on the passenger side. She said it was the perfect size to hold a six pack. Top down, A/C on full. Cold beer. Nowhere near the legal age. Those were the days.

It has a 400 bored .30” over to a 408c.i. with an edelbrock 4V manifold and a Holley 650. The 390 (FE Series) were never in the Gran Torinos. Prior to 1970 they were in all the mid size unibody cars and that was where the plug problems were due to the shock towers. Mustangs had the same problem. Last I saw it was on facebook for $50k.

I have a 2011 Camaro that I got dirt cheap. Mechanically it’s good but obviously been wrecked. I have a list of parts that I want to get and topping the list is the Weld Ventura wheels, yours look like RTS wheels.

Well, even though this one had the badging of a 396 it actually had a punched out 454 which made it a 496cu. I installed a TKO 600 5 speed trans..

My first car was a ‘75 with a 350, which had also obviously been wrecked. Got it for like a grand at the time.
This is a terrible first car for a 16 year old and I can’t believe my parents let it happen.
This one guy in my class had the most ridiculous car ever though, a V8 Vega. His dad was a mechanic and they dropped a 327 into a Vega. This was apparently a pretty common mod, but man, there is no way a 16 year old should have had that thing

Since we are posting old rides, here is a 65 Galaxie I had. Very solid car! I pretty much rebuilt everything. Originally, it was a 352 FE with a FX 3 speed auto. Next, I put a 390 in it and ran that a while. I picked up a 428 CJ block and put a 461 stroker kit in it backed by a built C6 transmission. I put a Strange 3rd member with a Detroit Soft Locker and 4.11s in the rear. I had 3 inch exhaust with flow master 40s dumping just in front of the rear wheels. I stupidly sold it, end of story!

I’m installing a PSC Big Bore steering kit in my Jeep presently. The newer ones some with a an electric power steering pump and a barely adequate steering box. The kit comes with a seriously improve gear box and a belt driven pump. I had to take the fenders and grill off to get to everything. I have all the oldest components removed and ready to start the install. Any time a company tells you a install will take a day on two, they are lying!

I had a ‘74 Buick Gran Sport with a stock 454. It got about 7 MPG, and never more than 10 MPG and ran on that awful Low Lead gas. I sold it pretty quickly. It put me off of big block engines. The thing was a pig.

Yessir I did the same with my Son, got him a car that I KNEW he didn’t need, got a call from jail on night. Sold the car. As he grew up he built several more. Guess what , he has a teenage driver now… LOVE IT. I bought him a built foxbody for graduation. Took maybe 2 months till the PoPO got him. I’ve had several V8 s10’s. Quite a few fast cars but yes also in High school, Dane Laney had a V8 Vega that was totally BA. He was the king in school lol. Sad that I don’t remember much from high school, late 70’s-early 80’s but I remember Dane and the Vega
