YBB was one of my favorites. Never owned one but rode a few when I worked at a shop. Rode a Vamoots CR roadie for a few years. I wish I’d never sold it.

The first, and only other forum I’ve ever joined, was a car forum for the Acura Legend back in 1999. I drove my dad’s 1990 Legend back then and now I have a 1994.
I have a Jeep too, which has been fun.
I took that picture with the snow this morning.

Oh, yeah, I can’t forget about this SWEET ride I have for now. It hauls ass, I think I can get her to about .75 mph, easily.
If I get down in a good racing position like this (squatting about a foot down to get in the photo), I might get her to a whole 1.25 mph. Watch out people, here I come.
Oh yeah, can’t forget these, these add at least .25 mph, and I get great gas mileage, never have to fill up even one single time.

I seem to remember that Julia (of Thomann bass fame) was once video’ed playing bass while riding a unicycle. I’ll have to see if I can find that.

My primary ride:
Nothing special, but surprisingly adequate and way more fun than it’s entitled to be. Same engine as the TransAlp 700 (a non-stressed 680cc V-twin), but in a non-adventury suit and with shaft drive.
I’ve hardly ever driven the car over the last 6 months – my wife is the only one who drives it.

when i saw the pix of you in the “post your you” thread i thought of how many times me and my wife are on vacation driving on some lonesome highway and we see guys just like you out touring on the open roads. i always tell her i think that should be us someday.

Except for one thing: GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. The back roads are so much better.
Being on the highway is being in transit. Taking the back roads is actually travelling.

oh for sure. however the highways i am talking about are more back roads anyways: the dragon, blue ridge parkway, the needles, etc.

That was me from my first year in college on, for probably 1987-2005 or so; had a couple cars in that timeframe but was mostly just a motorcyclist, with many several hundred mile trips out on the open road. I did an hour and a half bay area daily commute on one of them, too.
Some really good times. Some fathers not so happy so see their daughters come home from school on the back of a post-punk teenager’s bike too

I’ve been that way for a long time. In the mid-nineties, I didn’t even have a car… I clocked 250k kilometres on one and the same Suzuki GS850. That was a good bike… just a wee bit heavy. It’s been my daily ride on a 2 hour commute for years.

the term for ones not used for off-roading despite looking like it is “Mall Crawler” (as opposed to rock crawler)

Rock Krawler is a brand as it were. We just call them rigs. The community doesn’t really look down on mall crawlers except Hummers (they’re rather flimsy).
