That brass ring at the bottom of the threads is part of the pot, it’s not removable. I tried. And it’s part of each of the pots. Here is a pot sticking out of the Carvin:
There’re not enough threads for a nut there, let alone a nut and a washer.
Ah, my “other” Carvin. I bought that specifically to flip it, the guy I bought it from listed it for a bargain. I figured I’d buy it, clean it up, sell it for a profit. Like a dumbass, though, I started playing it, and I’ve become very fond of it. I’m contemplating keeping it, which is going to drive my CFO nuts.
I mean, I was just going to hang the pieces on my “studio” wall as art, but if you think you can make something of it, more power to you.
It’s all disassembled, but separately all the parts are there: body, neck, tuners, neck plate, pickups, internals, knobs, bridge. I have to keep the strap buttons though, I didn’t order new ones, and the neck plate and tuners are on the Warmoth until the new ones arrive Monday.
So yeah, let me know what you want and make me an offer.
Not all the pots have the same thread height, yes. Typically, short threads are used on guitars/bass that have a pickguard (very thin), and longer shafts are used on instruments where the pots are screwed through the wood. Very long shaft are used on instrument that have a carved top like a Gibson Les Paul.
It’s pretty much because @Reasonably_Happy is taking the bent-neck bass parts and pieces off my hands that I’m allowing myself to keep the Carvin I just posted about in the “show us your basses” thread.
I like to see contrast, so #3 works for me, but for the other two I personally would prefer a lighter or a different color pickguard. Just IMHO. Whatever floats your boat is good, though!
