Ok if the body of the Taxibacker is going to be yellow, what color should i stain the neck and headstock?
I think you should glue the neck , as the design is made for this. this has been made for centuries in various instruments and it works perfectly well
I love it cause its so cursed.
Anyway maybe your work makes SBMM create official version?
For sure id like to see Sabre reborn under SBMM.
@Al1885 bruh… I can’t even. I was secretly a little mortified you scraped the black off of there, but it came out way better than I expected. Congrats on Joe Sterling Man!!! #joesterlingman #dibs
Is there a certain type of glue that I should use?
The best things in life are free, but you can keep them for the birds and bees
Good to see Terry is doing well too
He says he’s never felt better. It used to be that when he was working on a guitar he’d put it aside for a while but now, he’s fully concentrated on projects until they get done. I was shocked that he spent so much time on the Moolah Bass yesterday, but he wanted it perfect.
the traditionnal glue for this is the red Titebond Original. I use it often, it’s perfect.
Stain as in dark roasted maple or mahogany? Ooh! That would be quite nice.
I doubt that it will ever happens. You’ll see they’d do a line up of cutlass and caprice for a grand before they even go to Sabre or signature artists series.
In all fairness the Sabre is just a control plate and Pickguard plus a little wiring magic away anyways.
Hey @athosmr2003 , would you be interested in a set of Fender rounds for the new build? I have a set of them that came off the Steve Harris P bass. Free to you if you want them.
OG Titebond is the warmest and best-sounding Toneglue, too
Yeah, I rolled the fret edges and spent a day on the neck for the right feel. Got the neck feel down but I’m working on the body feel now. Also gotta paint shield the plug as they broke the continuity in the cavity an produce a little hum while not touching the strings.
I just realized something. The body shape is so close to cutlass and caprice I can do this with minimum modification on the Pickguard and body. I’m gonna have some firesale on all of my ray4 and start shopping for SB4 or even SB14.
Better yet the 2 piece Sandberg California Pickguard fits even better with no mod needed. Well a little, lol. I can make a finger ramp to fill the cavity.
What do you think?
at least the glue joint can be disassembled with heat, which is not the case at all with other glues. that’s why the Titebond Original is still prefered to other more modern glues.
I was just being cheeky about tone and gluing things together XD I use Titebond original in pretty much all my projects.
I think I need to spend more time at your house helping with projects! That’s what I think @Al1885
I was leaning towards the dark roasted maple
That would be awesome but I’d at least want to pay for the shipping
Don’t worry about it. PM me a shipping address. I can send them out this week.
@Al1885 since you’ve already gone this far with the project… what about a 1 piece veneer for the top?
