The wood grain on the Joe Dart looks a lot nicer to me, I guess that is a different kind of wood used? Despite that I still think they look very similar and great!
Absolutely, the replica looks like a 5 piece body to me, lol.
I’m gonna spend a bit more time on the body to get the right feel. I don’t know if there’s a transparent fill I can use. This is on a porous side. It doesn’t have any shine at all.
Thanks @Mac it was a fun one. I was rushing it a bit I didn’t really wait for the oil rub to cure. That takes a few weeks I just applied and wait overnight then wet sanded it.
that’s a great job @Al1885 , all of this seems very legit to me it’s hard to hide completely the filled pot holes but that’s not important to me, even a small little detail to remember where this bass comes from.
TThe Moolah Bass is 99% ready. Terry spent 3 hours working on the neck cavity and the pickups. The one change he had me make was to remove the bridge platform he had me add because he was convinced that the strings would be too low. Once he got the neck shimmed and the pups lined up the opposite was true. This morning I removed the platform but it was too low so i added a piece of pickguard abd it worked. He’s going to set it up on Saturday but there r a few things that need tidying up like the carbon fiber. But can anyone spot something missing? Remember its a J bass.
Heres the next project, the Taxibacker! Im going to paint it Fender Yellow (paint should be here tomorrow) and the pickguard will be checkerboard but it looks like the seller generated the shipping label and never took it to the post office so I’ll have to reorder it once i get a refund on the 25th. Since its a kit I’m going to change out the strings. One thing that bothers me about the instructions is that they say to glue the neck into place. I don’t want to do that. If something ever happened to the neck it would be a pain in the neck (pun intended) to replace. So I’ll get a plate for it instead.
