In fact it’s quite cunning: get a £1,500 bass that you don’t need while your wife is in a soft mood.
And then sell it to get the one you really want - cause your wife will not complain about an exchange (it’s no new bass), even when she is in a not so soft mood.

Managed some sales progress… Samick is sold. Stingray is sold. Peavey got traded for an active LTD B-205 to hold him over and not rush a purchase. BB1200 and Carvin have interested parties so he may be in new bass territory in a few weeks!

How do you all ship basses in the U.S. if not selling locally?
Selling my Ibanez SR1600. I just don’t care for the neck. Listed on FB market, but I’m concerned about interest level out there. Figure I might have better luck on Reverb or Ebay. But I’d need to calculate shipping cost.
What services do people prefer and how much does it usually cost? I’m seeing estimates of $160 on FedEx/UPS.
I always try to sell locally first.
Pro tip - pay the membership fee on talkbass to list there - no selling fees and selling to a very targeted audience.
If I have to ship - I always keep a couple of boxes in case I have to ship though, or, stop in at a local music store and ask for a box or two the next time they get some.
UPS/FEDEX have been dancing around who is better/cheaper since covid, and in all honesty these days doesn’t really matter, quote the same thing on both sites and pick who is cheaper. Fedex ground used to be but not always anymore.
I always state ‘buyer pays actual shipping charge’ in my listings.
Or, you can jack up the price some and say free shipping.

I’ve got a box on hand from the Yamaha I got from Howard.
I’m just kind of shocked by $160 shipping fees. I would have expected like $60-$90

Check out pirateship.com . They’ll do comparative pricing and sell you the shipping/postage directly. I swear I wound up shipping a guitar for like $25 through USPS via them and never would have expected that option to be cheapest.
EDIT: Memory faulty. It was UPS Ground, and it ran me all of $23.68 to ship from NC to New Jersey.
