"Share some good music" Friday

And the legend lives on with Phil Campbell still rocking the lead.

Haha, this is kinda cool - video game music arranged for big band! Adam Neely on bass here:

Probably a bit outside the norm for on here, but I came across this and I absolutely love it.

This is the kind of music to have in the background in your lounge while you lay back in your chair with your eyes closed.

Beautifully arranged.

Tomo (on bass) write great lyrics. And I like songs that don’t follow conventions.

yeah and an incredible vocal technique. that’s perfect. and I love those slow depressive songs, it reminds me of Elysian Fields which is one of the bands I saw the most often when the live concerts still existed …

Heard this gem this morning. Most probably already know it, but it’s definitely worth a share.

Friends, celebrate the music while we have it. Marko (bass) left Nightwish this week, always sad news when a lineup changes.

Here is Nightwish and the incomparable Floor Jansen on vocals.

I am almost certain I saw their drummer on one of Rie Suzaku’s “Ladies Nights”. I’ll try and dig it up if I can find it.

edit - guess not, still, she looks super familiar.

Rina has also recorded with the Halloween Junky Orchestra put together by Hyde and KAZ of the Vamps. Possibly that?

I have to say I am a big fan of Rina Suzuki. She may not have the technical skills of a Kaname, but she lays down a good groove. She is kind of where I am aiming to become as a bass player. Not all the flash, but can lay down the groove.

I’ll have to check!

My current favorite for Japanese drummers is Fumiya Morishita. He might be the best musician in Unlucky Morpheus, which is saying a lot, as they are all pretty accomplished.

Hana from Gacharic Spin is great too, but she’s moved to singing and guitar instead of drums.

My favorite for Japanese drummers is Hideki Aoyama, lead drummer for Babymetal. I have seen him a few times in person and he is incredible. He also plays for the anisong supergroup The Jam Project, and does work with idols like Momoiro Clover Z. His dad Jun Aoyama was a well respectyed drummer as well.

I really like how Boh on bass and Hideki work together and power the music.
