Here you have a song you probably heard a few times already but, regardless of that, I think is a really good composition and display of technique.
IMO, Tim (main guitar), and Clay Aeschliman (drums) did it amazingly.

Is it pop? Babymetal pushing the envelope
some kind of post-blackened-crust
Worth it for Joey de Maio’s heavily modded Rick alone
That Rick certainly has had some work thrown at it!
Still Friday for 7 more min here, til Friday is over.
So.
Love these guys live, and this is one of my favorite songs by them.
They are always so good live.
I have seen them at several festivals ( back when a festival was one day with about 15 headliners and 1-2 side stages.
Lalapalooza 2.
Shitty outside stage in reservoir park in Santa Fe Springs, in middle of summer, HOT AF, ZERO drinking fountains, and $3.50 for bottled water (back in 93ish, total guess on year, that was like $7).
AIC
RHCP
NIN (IIRC)
Maybe Tool, IDK, truth be told, the whole day sounded like total shit, you couldn’t tell who was playing unless you were close enough to see the band, or read their backdrop art.
All day, hot, sweaty, thirsty, listening to shitty sound system, and all of a sudden, 2nd to last band of the night starts to play, and all of a sudden, the sound system started sounding good, correct, and you knew who was playing.
Such a good performance, and they know how loud they need to be to sound good, and still be heard.
After they were done, AIC.
One song, and I am on the way back to the car to beat traffic, cuz it went right back to that, cranked up to 12, sound like all the bands ahead of you.
No, it’s not that cuz it was too loud, I am too old. First, I was 20 something at the time, and, there is a point where volume sounds good, and then you cross it, and it sounds washed out, and indistinguishable.
Primus knows at which level they sound great, and are still able to get their point across.
If you can ever get a chance to see them play, I highly recommend doing so.
I have tickets to see them in Melbourne next year @Wombat-metal , they have some really great songs,
Cheers Brian
I saw Primus during OzzFest at Blockbuster Pavilion many years ago. Great live band!

Not my favorite song from that album but still fantastic.
Time for the way back machine
Just discovered this cover of Eddy and the Hot Rods’ “The beginning of the end” by the original bassist Paul Gray (the English one). Full of good fills and gorgeous tone.
I went down the technical metal rabbit hole, today. Crazy slappp, double-pop, and insane chug from Ilja John Lappin on this playthru of “Bezoar”. And a lot of it in close-up.
I am adding…
to my list of “things I will never be able to do”
Hey man – maybe not tomorrow, but who knows?
Of course, if you don’t want to, well that’s a different thing and certainly okay, too. I picked up a guitar habit years ago because of vids like this, and now it’s happening with the bass, too. Years pass by anyway – might as well try to do some otherworldly technique every now and then!
I am embarking on slap at the moment, started last night on talkingbass’ courses. By the time I get to this I will be 85 ![]()
A big shout out to @terb for this recommendation a while back. This is in hard rotation on my Ipod for my short drive to work. Top stuff.
Just a great baseline.
Song inspired by a dispute with a record label.
All the bass is playing root notes but it sounds great
