Just bought myself a ticket to go and see Duff McKagan on October 7th
I’ll be at the Idles show in Denver in less than a month, then the Ravonettes a day or two after that.
Rock Band League! Looking forward to the Battle of the Bands show tomorrow. My son has been doing this program for the last 4 or 5 years. Super cool experience, kids sign up, get put into bands (vocals, guitars, keys sometimes, drums, bass). The program sets up venues around town and the kids play a live set. At the end of the season, they have a “Battle of the Bands”. This one is kinda sad. It’s our last one. Most of his band are seniors and going off to school. He’s been with these same kids the last 3 years. If you have one of these programs locally and have kids that play or sing, try it out for sure. Also, if you are in Birmingham (Alabama) tomorrow around 3, head out to Iron City and see some fun live music…I’ll post some links to their last Battle show…
This Tuesday in Ft Lauderdale, Uriah Heep and Saxon! Later in May, Amon Amarth in Tampa. May 3rd we are seeing Brooks and Dunn because we have season lawn passes at the amphitheater in West Palm Beach. I have 3 Iron Maiden shows lined up for the fall!
Sisters of Mercy just announced a North American fall tour, so it looks like I’ll be at another show this fall.
Whoa. Is it, like, just Eldritch?
i mean i really love the sisters. seen them a ton of times. but at this point, i’ve heard a lot of people saying that andrew can’t even sing anymore. they haven’t put out an album in decades, in spite of LITERALLY promising that they would. some of their unrecorded songs that they’ve been playing live for decades now are just cringey in today’s world (i fucked every girl in berlin?). meh. just seems more and more like an ugly cash grab.
It’s so weird. Their live-only songs are the biggest reason to see them, and yet they don’t even play some of their best songs live, ever. They have apparently never played “Driven Like The Snow” live, which is weird, as it is kind of a sequel to “Nine While Nine”, and it’s one of their best songs.
given the amount of chainsmoking I’m kind of amazed he’s still alive
“What is happening in America is an ever more bizarre circus, and the population doesn’t seem to realize just how much it’s being taken for a ride. I can tell you one thing: If Donald Trump actually does become President, that will be reason enough for me to release another album. I don’t think I could keep quiet if that happened.
andrew eldritch, Nov 2016
Appropriately I have tickets to see Battle Beast on their Circus of Doom over North America tour.
I actually bought tickets because Blackbriar is opening for them though. Very excited to see Blackbriar, more meh on Battle Beast
Maybe he tried to write political songs and his brain locked up.
My girlfriend has been to two Sisters of Mercy concerts in the last few years.
She was deeply disappointed as a) you couldn’t see the band at all cause of the fog b) Eldritch sang really bad, sometimes not at all or the wrong lyrics and c) he did not seem to be interested in singing or interacting with the audience.
The guitarist - possibly the new guy - tried everything to save the day though, even sang some parts were Eldritch couldn’t be bothered…
I heared the same about some other concerts they gave…
Well to be fair (a) is pretty common for Sisters shows
Just saw Raven this past weekend in Pompano. Side note, saw Brooks and Dunn last week also.
We just saw the newest Canadian Super Group, TransCanada Highwaymen.
4 lead singers from Sloan, The Odds, The Pursuit of Happiness, and Former lead of Bare Naked Ladies.
Was a great show and they all swapped positions as they sang eachothers songs plus some other CanCon covers.
Paul Gilbert
Currently on the rail waiting for Amon Amarth! I’m the old dude with the white beard 6 feet from the stage!
Eating dinner before I head down into Denver for Idles tonight.
I’ll be 6000 miles away but there’s a solid solid show coming up for my friends back in the hometown:
Miki Berenyi playing Lush songs with Budgie and Lol Tolhurst opening.
It’s also playing in a theater/pub I wasted* much of my youth in.
(*it was not a waste)
For those in Portland, it’s on Monday at the Mission (NW Glisan between 16th and 17th):
