If you like metal core or anything adjacent, Hanabie was a really good live band. Energetic, dynamic, they really put on a show.

Hettsu on bass playing an Ibanez.

Fun fact, Hettsu also designs, and sews, the bands wardrobe as well as play bass. So she can be credited with creating the Harijuku core style, which is what they genre is referred as.

If they continue to grow this won’t be going on much longer

So many awesome things about that show. I wish I wasn’t halfway across the country.

I know. I love Lush, and I had such a major crush on her in my 20s

Plus Lol and Budgie, which will be awesome. One of the guys from Modern English is coming along too, and it’s at an awesome venue.

I am going to see Nicko McBrain’s “Titanium Tart” For all 3 of their shows in Florida in July! It’s his own Iron Maiden cover band made up of guys from S Florida metal. It’s kind of a warm up thing for him going on tour with Iron Maiden. I have been to every show that they have played publicly! Nicko’s wife named the band as a play on words. Titanium is a metal like Iron and Tart is a term for a female like Maiden is.

It’s good to hear he’s bouncing back after his stroke.

My company is hosting a trade show in Vegas next week. As a GD fan, I thought hard about buying tickets for Dead & Company at The Sphere either before or after, but the ticket costs were pretty crazy.

Usually we have a fairly well-known musical act for a party sometime during the week. Just found out that this year it’s… Dead & Company. At The Sphere. I am stoked!

Just saw Red Hot Chillie Peppers last night for the first time. Kind of last minute decision to go, i was supposed to be out of town but that was cancelled. Man, Flea is a beast!

Forgot to post in advance, but 6/17/24 saw David Ellefson’s Kings of Thrash (playing material off the first 3 Megadeth albums), featuring Jeff Young a former Megadeth guitarist from “So Far, So Good… So What” album and tour in Joliet, IL at The Forge. $15 for general admission, well worth it for a 7 to midnight show!

Openers: Chicago based Wrath (I’ve posted about them before, love them), Misfire (a newer Chicago area thrash metal band) and Gravel (southern rock, kinda).

Wrath, as always, put on a great show. My only complaint is that I’d like them to mix up their material a bit, I’ve seen them a few times in the last couple years, and its the same set every show).

Misfire - never heard of these guys before, but songs were solid enough and they had a lot of energy and good stage presence. Kinda had a Slayer-ish vibe mixed with other 80s thrash bands.

Gravel - never heard of these guys before either, and honestly, they weren’t bad. Great stage show, very energetic performers. Songs were fairly catchy, and over good. My only complaint was that they really didn’t fit the rest of the line-up at all. If I had seen them at a bar or at a street fest or something, they would have been a rocking good time. Sandwiched between thrash acts, they kinda fell a bit flat for me. I spoke with Wrath’s bass player for a bit between sets, he mentioned Gravel’s singer was married to one of David Ellefson’s relatives, so that would explain why they’re on the tour, I guess.

Kings of Thrash - awesomely fun. Played a ton of songs that Megadeth hasn’t played live in years. Singer was good enough, not quite as snarly as Mustaine, but did a decent enough approximation. Musically they were tight and put on a good show. Front row seeing one of my metal bass idols… well, that was just awesome. :metal: :metal:

Best thing about seeing a hippie band with 14,000 tech nerds is there’s not much competition for the good spots.

This show, though only a single set instead of the usual two, was incredible. And man, what a great spot to see it from!

ETA: Finally got a Bertha!

I’m going to all 3 shows of Titanium Tart. Nicko McBrain’s kind of warm up band for the next tour if you will. If I make all 3 shows, I will have seen them every time they have played! It’s a great time if you are anywhere close in Florida and from a distance too!

I saw Blink 182 last week with my best friend. She bought me the tickets in December for my birthday and the show was the week of our 19th anniversary. It was an amazing show. First time seeing them live, but I’ve been a fan since Dude Ranch came out.

This is Alexander The Great performed by Nicko McBrain’s Titanium Tart at one of the three shows I saw recently! The band is comprised of Soth Florida musicians. He does this to help him prepare for the upcoming tour. These guys are all cool, the Bass player is Rob Stokes. Steve Harris wouldn’t let them play it until Maiden played it live. https://youtu.be/0J6-_S-8wJo?si=aQd3KvOxfsA28AqB

My wife and I saw Metallica, with WVH and Pantera opening, last night at Soldier Field in Chicago. Tomorrow night she can’t go, so taking my guitarist friend. Great show! Looking forward to tomorrow with Ice Nine Kills and Five Finger Death Punch.

I’ll be going to see Bikini Kill at Mission Ballroom in Denver on the 27th. I’m so stoked, I’ve been into this band for 30+ years and never thought there’d be a chance in hell that I’d get to see them live. Especially after the 2020 Red Rocks show that obviously never happened.
