Thanks again @itsratso. What color is your short scale 'Ray?

The blue one.

I bought one of the MM prototypes in ultramarine blue when they first came out. Well designed, great sound and easy to play. It is also WAY more flexible sound wise than I expected, I had expected a ‘one trick pony’. I though it would be a great bass, but it blew my expectations out of the water. Over the past few months it’s become my #1, the one I always reach for first.

Now comes the really hard part. Waiting. That’s the only bad part of pre-ordering.

Sounds really good!

It does!

Ohhhh, that dropped copper I could do, I never was fond of the white or the light blue, but this one, hmmmmmm.
And I just talked myself into keeping only 3 of my basses and selling off the rest of the herd.

Did they release any new colors for the Ray4 or Ray 24?

That was my response too. The dropped copper sucked me in. I don’t know if they’ve come up with new colors for the Ray4 or Ray24 but I really like the Snowy Night EBMM.

Yeah, unfortunately I only noticed 4 new SBMM Stingray colors other then that Dropped Copper on the SS

There is Candy Apple Red and Star Blue something which is a blue burst both only available on the Ray4HH

There is a natural burst which is pretty interesting, but it is on the Ray34HH

I don’t like the HH, I am selling my Olive HH, so none of those colors help me.

There is one new color on the Ray34, to join the Black Satin, is the Neptune Blue Satin, it is pretty bad ass too, but it is the only color change so far and it doesn’t interest me.

But I would be more interested in a new color Ray24CA or new Ray4 colors, cuz they would be being. bought for looks, I have the same thing already, and I know, not all instruments are the same, I would still favor one of the few of the same bass, so like I said, I would be buying more for just a new color, so I would rather see them on the cheaper models

I would say, if I were in the market for a new SBMM stingray today, there is a clear cut winner to the one I would pick, the only question would be, are they available
The Toluca Lake Blue Ray24CA. i love that blue, I even kind of dig that off color pick guard

I really love the Look of the Ray34 Black Ash, but I don’t’ think I would play it is much as my others cuz the neck is bigger.

I really like that Toluca Lake Blue as well. I was looking at one of those when I saw the Dropped Copper short scale. I mostly play short scales so I jumped on it right away.

I have a Ibanez Mikro, but it is almost too small for me, but I mainly got it for my daughter so she could start learning to play after she finishes her recovery.
plus I got the Orange one off Offer up for $100

I play everything long scale, but like the smaller necks and the Ray4 and Ray24 both have the narrow nut width and feel not like other full scales. They are 34, but they feel a little smaller to play, like probably other necks would have to be 32" scale to feel the same, so that Toluca lake blue, being the Ray24ca has a smaller neck on it, so maybe one day you will enjoy one.
And if you don’t like the wider and thicker necks, the Ray34’s are off the table, in fact, many stingrays are off the table for me, because of that fat thick neck, but the Slo Specials (like mine) and the EBMM Sterlings are always options for that same neck feel.
I don’t mind stepping up to the fatter necks too much, but I wouldn’t spend full Stingray EBMM for one that did not have a neck that was just right.

I have never tried the SS stingrays, but one day, after the world opens up and GC closes and places stock things like SS stingrays or Sterling MM SS Rays again I will get a chance to play one, until then, I wouldn’t chance it to order one for $550 never have playing it, but I would spend that money on the Ray24CA cuz I know how it feels already, so I get why you went short instead of chancing it going to the Ray24CA without trying it in person.

Her leg is good, she got sick and had to spend the night in the hospital last week, making sure it was not covid, and it was not, but she is better now. She has worked 3 shifts this month, which is not bad, her goal was to be back to 3 a week for 4 weeks of the month. had a set back and only has 1 of those weeks in, but considering it has not even been a year since her amputation, she is doint pretty darn good.

Its all relative, I could be down in the dumps about all the bad things that have happened or I can be happy for the good that has happened in between the bad. I always feel better when I think about the good.
Thanks for asking.

Wow, that’s a beautiful color! My wife likes periwinkle and she went nuts seeing this. I think I may have accidentally been encouraged :joy: to expand the collection.

I used to live in Toluca Lake, but I’ve never actually seen it to know the color. It’s surrounded by homes and a private country club.

Yep, I used to drive up near it to work at a customers plant in Simi Valley.
Not a bad area, just not close enough to the beach for me. guess growing up on the coase spoiled me, I need to be within 5 miles from the coast
