Short Love

I liked everything you said … and for the first time ever I got interested in a Fender bass … which is kind of a revolution to me!

Don’t like the PU, but it should be easy to route and put something completeley different in it (like a Humbucker :-))

Really looking forward to that!
I have done that with my Harley Benton MV-4MSB and couldn’t be happier, EXCEPT: I have a strange buzz coming from the body on fret E14. - even when I put the neck on a different bass. So it’s an issue with the neck. I sanded the neck absolutely straight and the string does not touch the neck where it shouldn’t. Still there is a buzz.
When I put a cable tie on the fretboard to test with a fake fret, the buzz disappears. Very strange…

I’m still looking for the perfect short scale round wound and flat wound strings. Any opinions, @Wombat-metal ?

The more I look at the Reverend Sentinel the more I want to sell everything else and buy one.

Totally get it! Pickup-wise I would prefer this:

It’s the unicorn fart version of the Dub King

i called a bass clean looking in another thread, that certainly applies here too. :+1:

Pictures don’t do that finish justice. I agree on the pickups. Love the tone.

Of the two, the Sentinel for the win! Sorry @Whying_Dutchman!

Andertons in Scotland have one black one in stock. If I didn’t have two custom basses coming shortly, I’d jump on it. Reverend’s short scale basses are great. The Sentinel is about as opposite as you could get from my Wattplower Mk 2, not counting the build quality, which I would expect to be just as good (namely, great!).

Yeah!

Don’t understand the PU config though!?

That’s mine. Root Beer Sparkle. The 3-position switch selects: 1) bridge and middle blade, 2) middle and neck blade, and 3) neck humbucker (what Reverend calls the “Thumpbucker” :sunglasses:).

I love EVERYTHING Reverend (except the very ugly Meshell Ndegeocello bass … though I really like the early Meshell Ndegeocello stuff).

This sparkly bass is even more beautiful than “my” Avocado Dub King (don’t have it, cause @Al1885 talked me out of it :-))

I really envy you (again).

I literally used to say here if I get another bass it would be that one

Greetings to everyone. I hope all are doing well.
I’d really like to hear your opinion on if it’s worthwhile buying this bass.
It’s a 1976 Carvin CB 100 offered for US $600 (negotiable) including the case.
These basses were only manufactured for one year and came with two versions of pickups, originally the ones pictured made by Carvin and later black plastic Carvin humbuckers. They seem to be quite rare. What are your thoughts? Anyone familiar with this bass?

Being a Carvin owner I regularly search the brand but I haven’t seen one of those pop up before. That price doesn’t leave you room to flip it but I think it’s a great buy at that price.

I didn’t have anything really relevant to add, I have never seen or heard of this bass. however, just based on looks/rarity/coolness it is tempting.

I’ve been trying to put the Bunny Brunel back into my stable.

There isn’t much info on it and it’s not meant to be an investment but more of a fun toy and the original case is cool. Tomorrow I’ll get a chance to see it, perhaps buy it and he lowered the price to $500 which is almost half the price of a Fender Player in Mexico. Thanks for your comment.

It’s not a collector’s instrument but to me a 1976 instrument of that kind, if in good condition, is simply fun and interesting. I have a thing for old basses. Thanks!

I would buy a Reverend Watt Plower if it came in some color other than that god-awful yellow. Very light weight, plays well, short scale. Butt ugly.
