@fennario that is the old version that “only” has precision pickups … the V2 has all kinds of pickups that I probably don’t need - but definitely want!
@fennario, I dig this version config much more than the current one. Hope you snag it.
This is the only config of the 3 possible on the Mk 2 that I don’t use. I prefer the reverse P and the neck humbucker. For a regular P config, I use my Schecter Banshee.
How is the Banshee? I’ve always been interested but there is so little out there on it.
Well just ordered some TI flats for the Offbeat so it’s getting some love. And a strap in purple
I bought mine right after the second version was released (new finishes; got rid of the racing stripe versions, which I hated) for $699. It quickly went up to $799. It was difficult to find. I finally tracked one down at zZounds, the only thing I ever bought from them. It’s a really well-built Indonesian bass. Excellent hardware (tuning machines, bridge and passive electronics). The neck is perfect for me (more J bass; less P bass). Fast satin finish. I bought the Carbon Gray finish. Love it. The only change I made was to restring it with the La Bella DTF 760F-MUS flats (.043, .060, .082, .104) that were made for the version of the MIA Fender Mustang that had a through-body only bridge. The bridge on the Banshee supports both top-loaded and through-body stringing. The tones? P bass!

Comfortable sculpted body.
Some peeps complained about the headstock, but I like it.
that is a great looking machine ![]()
I deeply love that headstock! It’s really cool.
However I also feel like racing stripes would really improve the bass ![]()
Nice 5-bolt neck. Looks like a solid instrument.
it would definitely make it faster
Yes. Also red - red makes everything faster.
I love the grey
Haha do they get lonely…I LOVE that!!! I’m kinda on the opposite end. I have a 34in I’m noticing I’m having some trouble with the stretching alllllll the way over to the other end and just dealing with the overall hugeness of it (I’m a short little shit as my husband likes to call me 5ft 0in and around 145 to 150lbs. So I’m tiny as all hell). When I sit down it’s literally level with my head, I’m having to tune it when it’s laying on my lap soooo I don’t know. I’m looking into either the classic vibe 60s mustang bass or the Jackson minion. I’m into anything metal, grunge, or hard rock, I’m in my 40s and have arthritis flare ups in my lower back at times so I totally get the shoulder pain issues. Also looooove the cat photo instant follow from me. I’ve got a ton around me that like to think they own me as well and take care of me ![]()
I’m looking into a classic vibe 60s mustang bass!!! Sooooo super glad to hear that you so highly recommend it ![]()
I need somebody to tell me that this is a bad idea. There’s a 2023 Sandberg California VS short scale passive for sale on reverb. But, it’s local to me. Price is 1599. Looks like a legit private seller. Would it be crazy for me to offer a cash deal outside of reverb? What would be a decent price for a deal like that?
Man, message the seller, add your email address, and ask him/her to email you. Then you guys can make your own private deal without having to deal with any Reverb bullshit.
I did exactly this and I scored a rare EBMM Cutlass bass in the most-mint condition possible. The seller came down on his asking price and still came out ahead because he didn’t have to pay any Reverb fee. As for me, I didn’t have to pay any state sales tax.
Bottom line: go for it.

I like the mustangs classic mini-p pickups. They have their own vibe.
By all means check out a short scale. I see by your other post you are not comfortable on a long scale, I encourage to try a short scale. Comfort is paramount. And you don’t have to sacrifice tone
And you don’t have to sacrifice tone
Well… you kind of do. But it’s not so bad, especially if you care less about higher harmonics.
There are definitely different tonal characteristics between a long scale and a short scale.
A short scale tone is simpler, emphasizing fundamentals. A long scale is more complex, with inherent overtones similar to that of long piano strings.
Scale length definitely matters.
That said, the scale you choose should match the type of music you want to play.

Yup. Shorties lose some of the higher harmonic overtones and end up more thumpy.
Scale length definitely matters.
It definitely does for some genres. That said I wouldn’t let this get in my way if I wanted a shortie.
Well, I picked this up the other day. Sandberg California VS passive. I really like it so far. Playability and quality is great. It’s also pretty light. I will say that I wasn’t a fan of the bridge design, but after playing with it, Its growing on me. Also, a prelim shout out to Sandberg, one of the bridge saddles is missing its locking pin. I went to their site but wasn’t sure if that was the best place to order since they are in Germany. I emailed them through their website and got a very quick helpful response. It’s looking like it’s not going to be hard to find that particular part and get it shipped to the US.
