I love my EHB too, but it’s long scale. Found this one as a demo discounted, now to sell my 34" and pay for it lol.
And use this to do my Bad Boy cover project.

You don’t happen to have a Bantam 4?

There’s something about the Euro body shape (and Warwick Streamer, which is the same) that I want to love a lot, but it just doesn’t feel right to me, and I can’t gel with them. Love the look though.
I dunno, man. Getting stuck in a brand rut like that…

Yes, I love the look, the history, the sound they make, but I didn’t like playing them. They ended up just sitting on the rack, never picked up, so they had to go. Shame really, I also wanted to love ‘em.

That’s quite a long short scale ![]()
If you feel adventurous, you could replace the EMG P/J with a PJX. It will sound more agressive! And then put some cobalt flats on it to get rid of the neighbours!
Here you can see the difference between the LaBellas and the 2818:
Pink’s Hot (the sparkly bass) has LaBellas, Ronin the 2818
Close Ups:
You can see that the 2818 are much rougher…
Ok, after a frustrating day in the park, battling the 2818s (and the two little girls having great fun “playing” f#cking wooden flutes right next to me, WTF?), I did a complete setup … and lowered the pickups significantly.
Now we’re getting somewhere! I think the combination of the 35TWX and these string is challenging.
It sounds less metallic now, but it’s still sensitive to every mistake I make (“zing”). Ok, that’s good for my discipline.
The strings are very sticky too, in the sense of: they have a lot of friction. Much more than any round wound I have. Plucking is harder, especially if you need to have subtle control over the strings.
I read about people using GHS fast fret and Fingerease.
Does that make sense ? I mean, just until I learn how to play those strings properly?
Fingerease is not easy to get here - are there alternatives for the free world?
And: no, I will not use gloves, sorry!
@Al1885 ?
And he’s wearing a glove.

As far as you know.
I use fingerease. It’s much thinner feel. Best is the powder but is so messy and if you are in a gig they just thought you snorted something ![]()

Everybody thinks that of me anyway (but it’s untrue, in Germany you call people like me “naturbreit”), so that wouldn’t be an issue ![]()
Fingerease is really hard to get here, as in: impossible!
What would be plan B? Baby powder (= talc )?
Twenty years ago maybe.
