Did you make the control plate yourself?

Also: cool bass, though “only” a P-Bass - you could make it a triple Humbucker, right? Be brave!
I’m thinking of putting race stripes on one of my basses too now, but can’t decide on which one…

Did not, found them on the custom pickguard site. More happenstance than anything. I could have lived with a metal plate, but this is much better.

I am more of a P kind of guy. But the mustang pickup is not quite the same as a split P. It has its own character, and the NM4 is a bit modern as well. Triple humbuckers not my thing.

Besides, if I’m going to start routing I would need a HB brand mustang and they’ve pulled out of the US. What I would actually do with one is make a dual H22 Gold Foil bass, now that’s my cup of tea.

LOL!
We’ll be back and cheaper than ever in about 1066 days, stay tuned

Let me forward some advise I got on this very same forum: do it with powertools, not with a Dremel

They look very cool! What keeps you from doing it?

I need a body. Now that I am more comfortable piecing together a completely disassembled bass, I may do something about it.

I do know where you can get a heart, a brain or some courage. But you already have that

I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers, consulting with the rain…

Not sure if I want H22, dual H22, or an H22/Bisonic combo

Novak BS-DS Bisonic if it doesn’t ring a bell

i have never in my shockingly long life can recall seeing a band blow up as quick as that Angine de Poitrine band has. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this is also coming out right now

So wrong notes are cool again?

Well in that case I was killing it at our last gig then :face_with_monocle:

Honestly I would prefer a fretless and I have less than no desire for a fretless

Microtonal stuff is cool but not my jam, I do not feel like I have exhausted 12-TET yet, or ever will (to say the least)

I saw that and it is a cool idea but fretless would do the trick too. Really niche

Now years ago when I started this course I had this bass with me for a while but didn’t buy it because it is just to finicky being a 1968. It wasn’t the right bass to learn but I always regretted not buying it. Later it was sold and suddenly 3 years later it showed up on sale. Total GAS since I don’t “need” it bur very happy to have it! It’s a 1968 Kay K-2B. Quirky but tons of fun. The volume pots are basically shot and in a fixed usable setting but otherwise the bass is in really good condition. Would you replace the pots? I don’t gig, I don’t play in a band…

Given the bass works, I’d leave original.

Absolutely. I’d replace the pots in a heartbeat and store the originals for later (read, never) use. Better to have a solidly reliable bass than not.

100% replace the pots and throw the originals in a baggie to sell with it later.

I would post it to me and you can buy a Fender

I could post it to you and you could post me anything but a Fender. :joy:

Well, I don’t own a single Fender…
It is an epic bass
